Top Ten Tuesday-- Series Shame

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and The Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten List that bloggers join in on answering... and today (June 20th) I'm one of them :)

Today's Topic

Top Ten Series I've Been Meaning To Start But Haven't

  • I'm not a big series reader, which is probably because I read a lot of Contemporary.  But there's something about SERIES that when I'm not reading any, I miss them.  I miss the cliffhangers and imagining what's going to happen next.  The excitement (or torture) of waiting for the next book to be released.  The being able to enjoy the characters and plot lines for more than just one book.  I also like that series seem to be a little more popular, so there are usually tons of people to talk about them with.  I haven't read one single series book this year yet-- that really surprises me and makes me think I need to start one!!  Here's the ones I've been interested in:

1.  Delirium by Lauren Oliver- I love Lauren Oliver, so I gotta read this series.

2.  Seriously Wicked by Tina Connolly- Do you see the cute tights on the cover??  That + witches + I own the book = I need to read it.

3.  Shade Me (Nikki Kill series) by Jennifer Brown- I'm not really THAT into the synopsis of this book-- but I SUPER love Jennifer Brown and have never read a book from her that I didn't love.

4.  The Forgetting by Sharon Cameron- I've heard good things about this first book (which I own), plus the COVER!

5.  The Perfectionists by Sara Shepard- I LOVE Sara Shepard series and need more of them in my life.

6.  Not a Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis- Now that I know what Mindy McGinnis is capable of (I was OBSESSED with Female of the Species), I need to read more from her).

7.  The Liar Society series by Lisa Roecker & Laura Roecker- This is an older series, but I'm a sucker for plaid skirts, and I've heard that this series was really good.

8.  A Series of Unfortunate Events series by Lemony Snicket- I bought the first book the other day & plan to read it with my son very soon.

9.  Jessica Darling's It List (Middle Grade series) by Megan McCafferty- I LOVED the original Jessica Darling series and I really want to read the MG spin-off.

10.  Hundred Oaks series by Miranda Kenneally- I've been meaning to read this series since forevs.  Defending Taylor really sounded like something I'd love, so I might start with that one (although I do own Breathe, Annie, Breathe).  Do you have any recs on which book to start with?

What series have you been meaning to read?

  1. Hope you enjoy Snicket. I'm a huge fan of A Series of Unfortunate Events, but never got started on All the Wrong Questions. Perhaps I should read those this summer. My TTT is at - https://bookmurmuration.wordpress.com/2017/06/20/top-ten-tuesday-20-06-2017/

  2. You probably should read The Bad Beginning. It's so snarky.

  7. Hundred Oaks made my list too! I love companion series. I LOVED Delirium too! I didn't love the way the series wrapped up completely but the books were definitely worth a read. :)

  9. I loved most of the Hundred Oaks books! A few toward the middle weren't my favorites but all books got three stars or more from me ;) and YES THE PERFECTIONISTS! I loved that series. Sara Shepard is my fave.

    1. Good to know about Shade Me. I can't actually see myself not liking a Jennifer Brown book. I mean, I read an MG book by her recently and LOVED IT so much more than I should have.

  16. The Forgetting made my TTT too. Read Delirium series (very good), and I am a Hundred Oaks fan. The Jessica Darling books look so cute, and this is the third TTT list I have seen them on. I have to check them out.

    1. The Jessica Darling books are AWESOME!! At least books 1-3 are (4&5 annoyed me). The series I want to read is the MG series. I have no idea if they're good or not-- haven't really heard much about them!

  17. Jessica Darling's It List is so cute! It's a little bit different from the original books (of course, being MG and all) but I love reading Jessica as a middle schooler. The originals are my all-time favorite series.

  18. I loved ASOUE when I was a kid! I hope both you and your son enjoy it :)

  19. I listened to Not a Drop to Drink and enjoyed it a lot, the characters were great, though The Female of the Species still is a step up! I never read the companion book to NaDtD though.

And one series I need to read is The Raven Cycle. I think I'm the only one left who hasn't read it! It's in my plans this summer to at least start it.

  20. OMG. You *have* to start the Delirium series. It's such a phenomenal series, and the love interest boys: OMMGG. (Yes, that was so necessary.) You'll go crazy. Literally, I hate dystopians, but it's so easily re-rereadable and lovable. Hahaha. I knew a kid in elementary kid, who used read the Lemony Snicket books, facedown on the desk. Like, seriously, I think he read them all. I've been wanting to read Seriously Wicked, simply for that cover. So cute! And I once tried to get into the PLL book series, and they're actually really good, but there were so many, and I owned about two, so I eventually gave them away. Her books are like R.L. Stine tbh. Very repetitive.
