Top Ten Tuesday- Characters I Don't Want to Trade Places With

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and The Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten List that bloggers join in on answering... and today (January 28th) I'm one of them :)

Today's Topic

Top Ten Characters I Never Want to Trade Places With

As you may have read on my blog last week- I don't read a lot of stuff other than contemporary (but I'm trying to change!!).... so this topic is kind of hard.  It would be a lot easier to just make a list of shitty worlds instead of shitty lives.  I mean of course I'm not going to want to change places with a victim of domestic violence or rape... and that would be seriously insensitive to list people like that.  So I'm trying to make the most *sensitive* list of mostly contemporary characters that I can.

1.  Mara Dyer from The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer- Girl is going through SO much.  Is she crazy??  Is she supernatural??  Either way I don't want it.  But I do like to read about it!

2.  Jules from Crash (The Visions series by Lisa McMann)- Seeing a vision over and over and over again until you almost lose your mind??  Ummm yeah I'll pass on that.

3.  Jasper Dent from I Hunt Killers- Hunting serial killer sounds kind of cool... but the whole being raised by one is the thing that I'm steering clear from.

4.  Ashleigh from Thousand Words- Having my hoo-haa sent all around my school and the internet and even my parents seeing it??  Umm can you say mortified.

5.  Alex & Darla from Ashfall- If Yellowstone erupts I think I'll just off myself before I go through everything these two have to go through.  SCARY!

6.  Janie Johnson from The Face on the Milk Carton series- OLD SCHOOL!!  Yeah it would really suck to wake up one day and find out you were kidnapped by some hippy-drug addict and the parents that raised you all your life are NOT you parents.  And then being forced to try to go back to a bio family that you don't really remember and don't really fit in with??  Ughhhh.

7.  Sloane from This is Not a Test- or any of Courtney Summers characters.  They all hurt my heart.  And plus ZOMBIES!!

8.  Jane from Rosebush- Girl was run over!!  And everyone in her life was freaking toxic.

9.  Audrey Cuttler from Audrey Wait!- It sounds cool to have a hit song written about you.  But I don't think I could take all the people talking about me and judging me and analyzing my relationship like that.  And plus I would NEVER want one of my ex-boyfriends to be famous.  They just need to go away.

10.  Anyone from The Pretty Little Liars series- I would not do well with having all my deepest darkest secrets being held over my head.  Not at all.

So what characters/worlds would you never want to be/live in??

  1. I've only read THE UNBECOMING OF MARA DYER, and I totally agree with you. I'd never want to be Mara. She has Noah, but I don't know if he's worth her insanity--I don't even know what's up with Mara!

  2. oooh I'm starting Ashfall really soon. I got the galley for book three so I'm going to read them straight through. lol at offing yourself. I tell me husband this everytime we watch the Walking Dead. No thank you, I'll just be in that room over there ending it all. I have no desire to live in those situations. Heck I freak out when our internet is down. I definitely couldn't cut it. lol.

  4. You know I haven't read ANY of these books! Honestly though, the one that sounds the worst is the Pretty Little Liars and your darkest secrets being held over your head. That paralyzes me more than zombies or dystopian governments!

  5. I am dying to get my hands on The Retribution of Mara Dyer. I can definitely understand why Mara made your list, but Noah would almost be worth it. Great list!!

  7. Poor Mara Dyer. I hope she finally gets a happily ever after in Retribution! Really cool list, Michelle! I like that you included Audrey Wait! on here. It's definitely a realistic pick in this day and age. Thanks for visiting My TTT!

  8. I haven't read any of these yet, but I've been planning to read a few, and yipes. Those poor characters. I wouldn't want to trade places with them either. On the other hand, I really want to read some of these now. . .

  9. "Having my hoo-haa sent all around my school and the internet and even my parents seeing it?? Umm can you say mortified." HAHAHA. I haven't read that book, but how you said this made me laugh. I haven't read much from this list, but I so agree with Audrey, Wait! I wouldn't be able to handle it.

  14. The Face on the Milk Carton terrified me! I remember really loving Janie's life with the family that "stole" her and the boyfriend and then she had to move in with a family she didn't know with tons of siblings. I also remember something about her having a watch that made her feel out of place and also her and the boyfriend checking into a hotel under fake names. Those are the two really random things I remember from that book (or books? I can't remember how many I read). So basically what I'm saying is that that is a great choice!

  16. The Face On the Milk Carton!!! Oh my god that takes me back haha. Great pick. :)

I included This Is Not a Test on my list too. Zombies = too terrifying to coexist with.

  17. Oh my gosh, yes! I don't think I would survive as any of these ladies in their positions. Talk about stressful! I almost think Mara Dyer would be the worst because a lot of what is going on is kind of in her head which is almost worse than being sure of something. Fun TTT!
