Top Ten Books About Friendship
1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling- Oh how I love Harry, Ron, and Hermione together. Friendship is one of the major themes in this book and this is one of my favorite friend groups of all-time.
2. Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky- I didn't LOVE this book. I know, I'm weird. But I did love the way Patrick and Sam helped Charlie become a real person.
3. Looking for Alaska by John Green- I love Miles and Chip, aka Pudge and The Colonel. Then Alaska comes along and these 3 made me wish I went to a boarding school.
4. Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah- Ultimate friendship book. This book is all about an amazing lifetime friendship and how it evolves over time. A very special book.
5. The Sweet Revenge of Celia Door by Karen Finneyfrock- I love Celia and Drake. At first I thought that this book was going to take a romantic turn... but it never does. This book is specifically about bullying and friendship and high school. And it is awesome. Now where is my Drake?
6. Winger by Andrew Smith- Ryan Dean has a lot of friends in this book, but his relationship with Joey was my favorite one. The way Joey mentored Ryan Dean and the way Ryan Dean accepted Joey... it was my favorite part of the book.
7. Ten Things We Did by Sarah Mlynowski- I love this book. It's about 2 best friends who get to be roommates in high school with NO PARENTS!! April and Violet reminded me of me and my own best friend in high school. Her parents were never around and I basically lived there.
8. Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green & David Levithan- I loved the way Will #1 was always there for Tiny... even if Tiny was a TAD self-absorbed. Definitely a true friendship.
9. Hold Still by Nina LaCour- More of a book about a losing a friend in a heartbreaking way :(
Those are my fav books about friendship and book besties. What's on your list?? Leave me links :)
Great list Michelle. I really want to read a lot of these books. I think Harry Potter is such an important book about friendships!
ReplyDeleteConsidering that I loved The Fault in Our Stars, I really need to read Will Grayson, Will Grayson sometime! I've tried reading another one of John Green's books, but couldn't get into it. So many friendship books I need to catch up on!
ReplyDeleteWow first off I love the edits! They're awesome. Second, Harry Potter and Looking for Alaska are the best friendship books ever. That is all :P

Yes, you've listed some truly great friendships here! Tiny Cooper, man. That kid. I want HIM to be my BFF. I had the BSC on my list, too. I grew up with those girls and I wanted friends like that in middle school. Unfortunately, I couldn't bike to my friends' houses and, thus, we were limited in our time together. Oh, and just a note -- Jessi was an important friend in the club! I loved her friendship with Mallory.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I completely forgot about The Babysitters Club, they definitely have to be a part of this top 10! God, I used to LOVE those books when I was younger. I've heard lots of 'Firefly Lane', it's still on my to-read shelf, quite curious about it now! Great list, Michelle! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat choices. Harry Potter topped my list, I adore that series and it has so many wonderful friendships in it. Perks made my list too, I adore Sam, Patrick and Charlie <3 Nice list :) Here's my TTT.
ReplyDeleteGood list, I love Harry Potter, Perks of Being a Wallflower and Looking for Alaska as well.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! How could I forget about the Babysitter's Club? I read those books like my life depended on it when I was little. So glad to see them on a list :)

Ohhh Babysitter's Club is such a good call! I feel like I learned so much about friendship from those girls. Ryan Dean and Joey made my list, too. Such a sweet boy friendship.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to read Looking for Alaska forever! I'm gonna do it soon I promise!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy Cress as much as I did, it's one of my favourites of 2014 so far!
So far I LOVE Cress!! Even better than Scarlet :)
DeleteHarry, Ron and Hermione are the best! Great list =)
ReplyDeleteI love this list soo much! Perks is one of my most favourite books. *hugs Perks* I particularly love how Sam and Patrick really supported Charlie and I was devastated when they stopped talking to him for a while. Nooooo. xD ALWAYS to Hermione, Harry and Ron.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by mine!
YES OMG THE BSC! Can't believe I didn't think of it.
ReplyDeleteFirefly Lane is amazing. I recently read it for a second time and I fell in love with it even more. It was the first time finishing a book that I possibly thought about reading a book a third time. I reread very few books, but I don't think I have read a book a third time.
ReplyDeleteOMG, YAY! The BSC! Wow, now I feel super old. Love your list so much!
