Top Ten Tuesday-- Book Quotes

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme now hosted over at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week they post a new Top Ten List that bloggers join in on answering... and today (March 5th) I'm one of them :)

Today's Topic

Top Ten Favorite Book Quotes

  • I must have skipped out on this topic when they did it back in 2013, so this is my first list of book quotes!!  I love quotes, but am not always the best of writing them down when I come across ones that I like.  Here are the quotes that I actually have kept track of-- also, I tried to keep all the quotes actual book quotes (as in quotes in books) instead of quotes ABOUT books.  That is a whole other list....

1.  “When you're a stupid girl in love, it's almost impossible to see the red flags. It's so easy to pretend they're not there, to pretend everything is perfect.” ~Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios

2.  "Trevor Dunham talked quite a bit about his man part just before he drowned." ~The Lifeboat Clique by Kathy Parks

3. " I go to seek a great perhaps." ~Looking for Alaska by John Green

4.  “Some pieces couldn't be glued back together. Some people weren't for fixing. Sometimes, the only thing to do was burn the whole fucking world down and start again.” ~Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas

5.  “I am no one special.  You are no one special.  Most people can’t handle it.” ~Glory O’Brien's History of the Future by A.S. King

6.  "There was time before organisms experienced consciousness, and there will be time after.  And if the inevitability of human oblivion worries you, I encourage you to ignore it.  God knows that's what everyone else does." ~Hazel Grace from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

7.  “It’s the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more” ~Dumbledore from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling

8.  "For the first time ever, I felt ashamed of my species. The volcano had taken our homes, our food, our automobiles, and our airplanes, but it hadn't taken our humanity. No, we'd given that up on our own." ~Alex Halprin from Ashfall by Mike Mullin

9.  "It is a universally acknowledged truth that high school sucks. In fact, high school is where we are first introduced to the basic existential question of life: How is it possible to exist in a place that sucks so bad?” ~Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews

10.  “Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there's a tomorrow. Maybe for you there's one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around it, let it slide like coins through you fingers. So much time you can waste it.
But for some of us there's only today. And the truth is, you never really know.” ~Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

  1. These are all such great quotes!! It's so hard to narrow it down to just ten. Here's mine this week - I limited it to books I read last year because I've done this topic quite a few times. :)
