Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and Bookish.
Each week they post a new Top Ten list that bloggers join in on answering.  And today I'm one of them :)
This week the topic is:

Top Ten Books I'd Give A Theme Song To:
(and please tell us the song and why you'd pick it for the book!)

Whew this was a hard one... there's so many great songs out there!! At first I'm like, yeah I love music I can come up with something easy, but then I realized I love A LOT of music! Here's the best I could do....

1. The Rules of Survival By Nancy Werlin
Concrete Angel- Martina McBride... The book is about child abuse, and I can't think of a song or video that better embodies that... except maybe Luca by Suzanne Vega.

2. Stay By Deb Caletti
It Will Rain- Bruno Mars.... Ok I know it's a love song, but I think it could be a little borderline obsessive. In this book Christian is the guy who thinks he'll die if Clara leaves him, and I could imagine him writing a song like this in one of those emails to her.... plus he defininetly needed "a whole lot of medication" because he was cray cray. My 2nd choice was I'll Be Watching You By The Police.

3. Anna and the French Kiss By Stephanie Perkins
Lets Stay Together- Al Green... I figured their love is timeless and forever so this is the song that goes with that.

4. Party By Tom Leveen
Cold Beverage- G Love and Special Sauce... It doesn't really go with the issues going on in the book but it just seems like a song that would be played at a last day of school party. Like something from the movie Can't Hardly Wait or something :)

5. The Time Traveler's Wife By Audrey Niffenegger
In Your Eyes- Peter Gabriel... It just seems to fit Henry and Clare to me. It's about missing someone, waiting for them, and then coming back to them...

6. Speak By Laurie Halse Anderson
Clumsy- Our Lady Peace... A good song for a depressed girl. I think this song has that sad out of control feel to it, while also giving hope that people can change and some people are worth trusting.

7. Twenty Boy Summer By Sarah Ockler-
Cruel Summer- Bananarama.. totally a song that would be in this if it were a movie. Anna's summer is pretty bad now that the neighbor boy is gone and he left her here on her own...

8. Some Girls Are By Courtney Summers
Break Stuff- Limp Bizkit... Ok so maybe it's a little harsh for this book, but I could totally feel this guitar rift playing when Regina gets bullied by the mean girls. She gets to that point where it's just rage circulating through her.

9. Impulse By Ellen Hopkins
Perfect- Simple Plan... Mostly for Connor, feeling the pressure of trying to live up to his parents standards... "I'm never gonna be good enough for you..." (Runner up was Last Resort- Papa Roach for Vanessa but then I decided that it was more just that I love that song than it really went with the book)

10. Thirteen Reasons Why By Jay Asher
Fly Away- Poe... I think the song speaks for itself. Basically just a hopeful yet haunting song. It's my way of saying I hope Hannah found peace.
