About

My name is Michelle-- I'm from Pittsburgh, PA, and I’m obsessed with reading & like to talk about it!

I read a lot of YA Contemporary.  Sometimes I like Paranormal and Dystopian or Apocalyptic books... but it's usually a lot of YA Contemporary here (not meaning romance-- I'm not the biggest romance fan).

If you came looking for a blog that SQUEES over that super popular book that you've been hearing about all over the place, I'm probably not your girl.  I like to read and talk about books that are more under the radar.  This is usually not by choice (although sometimes it is), I just naturally gravitate to books that don't become a big "thing".   That's not to say I never read popular books-- because if it's something I'm interested in, I'm going to read it.  I just tend to be more of a black sheep when it comes to books I'm obsessed with.

I guess you could say this is a book review blog, but I'd call it more of a book-talk blog.  When I write a "review" it's more of me talking to you about my personal feelings than it is an academic critique.  These aren't professional reviews, they're random thoughts and opinions.  Also, I blog a lot about fashion, pop culture, movies/TV, and more and more often 80's & 90's nostalgia.  I'm just doing what feels right and having fun at it :)

This blog opened March 2012... that's almost 8 years already!!

Things You Should Know About Me:
  • I only read YA (for the most part)
  • I like to write- or I try to write anyhow
  • I am a mom to the coolest 12-year-old
  • I am completely obsessed with my Boston Terriers, Lucy and Ruby.
  • I just finished up my Bachelor's Degree and am now working full-time
  • Fave Candy: Airheads, Mints (like York or knock-offs), those mini eggs at Easter
  • My Hobbies are: Napping (yes it's a hobby), reading, watching NFL football, fantasy football, getting beautified and going out with my girls
  • TV Shows I obsess over: Once Upon a Time, Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game (RIP), Fashion Police (Joan Ranger here RIP), Dateline, The Big Bang Theory, Californication, Dance Moms (I'm a real life Abby Lee survivor), Dawson's Creek, One Tree Hill (The Early Years), Project Runway (Damn Heidi, you still look good), American Horror Story, Rectify, Gilmore Girls (I've watched all the episodes, but hate Rory LOL), Fuller House, Baby Daddy, Stranger Things, The OA, Dead to You, Bravo TV reality shows (my guilty pleasure), You
Why I love to read YA: I've tried reading Adult books and even though there are some that I've really loved, I always go back to Young Adult.  I guess I just love reading about that time in your life where you are really finding yourself.  When life is simpler and problems are magnified.

  3. I know you said you mainly read contemporary ya books, but I recently read (and loved) a nonfiction book titled, You Had Me At Woof by Julie Klam. She's a Boston Terrier lover and writes about her love for these dogs. I thought you may be interested in this book as you mentioned being "completely obsessed with my Boston Terriers, Lucy and Ruby."
