This week (May 8th) the topic is:
Top Ten Favorite Book Quotes
Hard one because there are so many good quotes in so many good books, and I do not keep track of quotes like some people.... but here's what I came up with:
1. "We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are." ~Sirius Black, Harry Potter and The Order of Phoenix
Love Sirius!!! My favorite HP character by far!
2. "I wonder how long it would take for anyone to notice I just stopped talking." ~Melinda Sordino, Speak
Such an amazing book, I had to have it on my list! This book touched me in a way few books have :)
3. "Stay gold Ponyboy, stay gold." ~Johnny Cade, The Outsiders
One of my fav's from junior high. Gotta love Johnny & Ponyboy's BFFness.
4. "There was time before organisms experienced consciousness, and there will be time after. And if the inevitability of human oblivion worries you, I encourage you to ignore it. God knows that's what everyone else does." ~Hazel Grace Lancaster, The Fault in Our Stars
I just read this about a week ago, and wow it was deep. I loved it, but it depressed me a little too much :(
5. "Our love is like the wind... I can't see it but I sure can feel it." ~Landon Rollins Carter, A Walk to Remember
I'm not a big Nicholas Sparks girl, but I read this book when I was less cynical about love...
6. "If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you." ~Winnie-the-Pooh
To my BFF Jojo...
7. "On Ecstasy, Joan Rivers looked like Pam Anderson, so imagine what Pam Anderson looked like." ~Tommy Lee, The Dirt
Oh The Dirt... Motley Crue's bio. Such awesomeness!!
8. “Wherever I go, I'll always see you. You'll always be with me. And there's no happy ending coming here, no way a story that started on a night that's burned into my heart will end the way I wish it could. You're really gone, no last words, and no matter how many letters I write to you, you're never going to reply. You're never going to say good-bye. So I will. Good-bye, Julia. Thank you for being my friend. Thank you for being you.” ~Amy, Love You Hate You Miss You
This book was like Speak for me, just a little sadder.
9. "How much wood could a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck chlamydia." ~April, Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn't Have)
Ha!! I about fell off my chair laughing when I read those words.
10. "The last contact I ever had with her is the image of her in a dead sprint, a shit, vomit and grease-stained sheet stuck to her body running from my apartment."
and
"Yeah, I have an upper management role in hell reserved for me."
~Tucker Max, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell
That pretty much sums up the whole book... hilarious :)

Well that's mine.... What's yours???
Love the Sirius Black quote. Everyone has been quoting his "If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals" but that doesn't reflect very well on him, since he's not that nice to Kreacher.
ReplyDeleteI like all of these and have some new books for my to be read pile!
ReplyDeleteI love this list! You have a good mix of serious and funny. I love that Sirius Black one, too. I also liked that one from The Fault in Our Stars although, like you said, it's kind of depressing.
ReplyDeleteAhh, Winnie The Pooh is such a sweet bear. I love the quote you choose! :) And Harry Potter of course <3
