Reviewers' Roundtable- Following Blogs

The Reviewers' Roundtable is a weekly discussion feature hosted by me and Emily from Read Your Bookcase.  Each week we discuss a different bookish/blogging topic and hope you guys will share your thoughts too!

THE HOSTS:

Following Blogs: How do you follow and what makes you want to follow?

Following Blogs

When I follow blogs these days, I do it with Bloglovin.  Ever since the whole Google Reader thing went down, I moved over to Bloglovin' and so far I've liked it.  I also use it on my phone, but I don't comment as much from there because I always end up with crazy auto-correct fails.  Very rarely I will follow a blog by email.  This really was something I did when I used GFC a lot and a blog that I loved didn't have a GFC gadget.  I haven't followed a blog by email in a long long time.  But really I read posts more through Bloglovin' than I do through the ones that come in my email anyway.

Why I follow

I follow blogs for all different reasons.  My number one reason is that I find that we read a lot of the same books and have similar opinions on books.  (Like right now anyone who doesn't like Love Letters to the Dead, I would probably follow since I feel like I'm the only one... likewise for someone who loved Tease).  I also follow pretty blogs.  I guess it's kind of like judging a book by it's cover, but if your blog is super pretty, I'll probably follow.  I also follow people who seem really nice (in a genuine, not fake way).

I find new blogs to follow by visiting people who visit me.  I also find a lot of blogs through Top Ten Tuesday.  If someone posts a list that has a bunch of my fav books on there... I usually follow.  Another way I find new blogs is through Saturday Situation on Candace's Book Blog.

I follow mostly all book blogs. There is ONE makeup blog that I like, a few fashion blogs, and one Pittsburgh blog, and that's about it.  I guess I don't go topic crazy when it comes to blogs.  I know a lot of you follow all the blogs, but I like books :)

So I'm super curious about you... how do you follow blogs (email, Bloglovin', Feedly, etc.)?  What makes you follow a blog and where do you usually find new ones?

  2. I follow my blogs through Bloglovin as well! Back in the day, I just followed all the blogs that were linked up to a meme. But well that turned out badly and I've had to unfollow so many blogs! Now I find blogs through Twitter, through other blogs and through people who comment on my posts. Usually, I like a good design and not too many blog tours. :D

  3. I follow blogs mostly through bloglovin haha I follow blogs if we have common books and also common thoughts on certain books. I really like blogs with various posts (reviews, memes, discussions etc) But tbh I am not really picky, this explains the number of blogs I am following right now :)

    Great post!

  4. I follow almost everyone by many methods - bloglovin, gfc, whatever. The one that matters is email. I follow about 20 blogs by email, and these are the ones who always have an insightful post that I actually want to click and comment on. That's my criteria :)

  5. Majority of the blogs I follow are on Bloglovin. but there are some that I have subscribed by email.

It's been difficult to find new blogs to follow. I don't know if it's because I am not really LOOKING or I am getting picky! haha

  6. I follow through Bloglovin and Feedly, but I use Feedly the most. Lately I haven't really been following anyone new. Reasons I follow are same as you, it depends on the books. There is one book I guide myself by a lot and that's the Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. If you read it and liked it, I'll definitely follow ;)

  7. I always follow via Bloglovin because it's the easiest way to keep up with everyone. :)

  8. I follow by email and Bloglovin most of the time. Bloglovin rocks, and I love there's an app for that. I can't comment on blogs from my phone either because I end up losing the entire comment. One day I figured out if I don't click the Bloglovin frame off a blog I'm trying to comment on, it doesn't let me click the "notify me" box. I don't know why, either. I always like to see if I get a response back, so I try to make sure there's a way I can be notified. :)
