Top Ten Tuesday- Underrated Authors

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and The Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten List that bloggers join in on answering... and today (September 9th) I'm one of them :)

Today's Topic

Top Ten Underrated Authors in Young Adult

JOHN GREEN!!!... lol j/k

Nina LaCour
AUTHOR OF: Hold Still, The Disenchantments, and Everything Leads to You were all written by a genius IMO.  I could read her writing all day, every day.  I don't feel like a lot of people talk about her books in the YA world... and I hope that changes!!

Courtney Summers
AUTHOR OF: Cracked Up to Be, Some Girls Are, This is Not a Test, Fall for Anything
Oh how I love this author.  One of my very, very favorites.  I want everyone to know about her.

Adele Griffin
AUTHOR OF: A lot of books! Including:  Loud Awake and Lost, All You Never Wanted, The Julian Game, The Unfinished Life of Addison Stone
I hunted her down at BEA because I just had to meet the person behind all these super unique characters!  She's written quite a number of books, but I had never heard of her until I stumbled upon All You Never Wanted.  She's definitely underrated.

Jennifer Brown
AUTHOR OF: Hate List, Bitter End, Thousand Words, Perfect Escape, Torn Away
She writes about things that hurt my heart... and I love that.  Her books are mildly popular, but they should be huge!

Sarah Mylnowski
AUTHOR OF: A lot of books!!  Including: Ten Things We Did and Probably Shouldn't Have, Gimme a Call, Don't Even Think About It
She's SO funny!!!  Seriously underrated for her ability to write humor and also make the book feel meaningful.

Lauren Strasnick
AUTHOR OF: Nothing Like You, Then You Were Gone, Her and Me and You
She has such a distinct writing style and I personally love it.  I want more people to read these books!

Tom Leveen
AUTHOR OF: Party, Zero, Sick, Random, Manicpixiedreamgirl
Love his characters!  So underrated.

Louise Rozett
AUTHOR OF: Confessions of an Angry Girl, Confessions of an Almost Girlfriend (and a Confessions #3 book coming soon!!!)
I thought these 2 books were so fun to read.  Rose is such a strong character that I really wanted this series to catch on w/ more people.

David Klass
AUTHOR OF: You Don't Know Me, Stuck on Earth, Grandmaster
I love books that feature teenage boy main characters.  This author captures them PERFECTLY.

Lisa McMann... sort of
OKAY... not so much Lisa McMann because she is a popular, well-known author.  I am talking about the Visions series (Crash, Bang, and Gasp).  Those books were really addicting and feature a main girl who is simply adorable.  I want THAT particular series to be more visible.

Those are authors I think deserve more praise and more readers!!  Can't wait to see which authors you all picked.  I think I'll find some new favorites this week :)

  2. "John Green lol" = Perfect. =) I love Lise McMann's MG series, The Unwanteds, but I haven't read anything else by her, nor any of the other authors on your list! Wait I did read This Is Not A Test but I didn't love it...
I'll definitely check out some of these authors, though! =)

  4. I haven't even heard of most of these and I read YA ALL the time! (It's basically the only genre I read.) I giggled at John Green. ;-) And YES! Definitely to Jennifer Brown. She almost made my list actually, but then I'd only read one of her books so I decided I should read more before I say she's underrated. But Hate List was AMAZING and I totally don't see enough people reading it!! Here's my TTT!
