Summer Is OVER-- What Were the Best Books of this Summer?

I'm more than a little bummed that Summer is over.  It's not that Fall isn't fun, but UGHHH Winter.  Why do the good weather months go by so fast and the terrible, bitter ones go so slllloooowwww?

Anyway, now that Labor Day has come and put an end to Summer, I thought I would share my best Summer 2017 books.

Best of Summer 2017:

Follow Me Back (#1) by A.V. Geiger

  • YESSS!!  This was would be a super good suspenseful, but also romantic beach read.

In Some Other Life by Jessica Brody

  • I thought this was super cute and light and perfect for Summer.

When I Am Through With You by Stephanie Kuehn

  • I like reading dark/psychological in the Summer, and this one was perfect.

16 Ways to Break a Heart by Lauren Strasnick

  • This cover looks like it's all romance and fun, but it was actually about a pretty dark romance that kind of destroyed both main characters.  I loved it.

One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

  • I love my YA Mysteries and Summer is my favorite time to read them.

Be True to Me by Adele Griffin

  • BEST BOOK OF THE SUMMER!!  It has the summer atmosphere, the intriguing story, the romance, and the suspense.  A must read.

The Arsonist by Stephanie Oakes

  • Another must read, but for different reasons.  This book was so intricately put together with elements of old and new blended into a 30 year mystery.  It was about so much more than I was originally expecting.

Final Girls by Riley Sager

  • I feel like this was a Summer Buzz Book.  I saw it a lot around the internet, and that made me so happy.

Little Monsters by Kara Thomas

  • This was another YA Mystery, but the setting was winter, so maybe it would also be fun to read in the winter??

The Dazzling Heights (The Thousandth Floor #2) by Katharine McGee

  • I'm reading this right now and YESSSS!!  I am so here for this book series and it's drama (except maybe not the Avery/Atlas drama because yuck).

These are some books I wanted to read and thought they would be awesome Summer books, but didn't get to:

I See London, I See France by Sarah Mlynowski
Once and For All by Sarah Dessen
First We Were IV by Alexandra Sirowy

  • 3 of my FAVORITE authors of EVER, so I don't doubt that these are great books-- and I will read them!!

Tell Me!!
What were your favorite Summer 2017 books??

I need to check out the books that topped your summer reading list this season.

I had a great summer filled with loads of reading myself... Here are the books that really stood out for me:

    1. Hollywood Moon by Joseph Wambaugh (thriller)
    2. The Horse Mistress by R. A. Steffan (historical fiction)
    3. Journal of a Novel: The East of Eden Letters by John Steinbeck (nonfiction)
    4. The Vegetarian by Han Kang (contemporary fiction)
    5. The Mephisto Club (Rizzoli & Isles #6) by Tess Gerritesen (mystery/thriller)
    6. Winter Men by Jesper Bugge Kold (historical fiction)
    7. Black Mark's Resistance by Ebony Olson (erotica)
    8. The New World by Patrick Ness (sci-fi/dystopian)
    9. The 7th Month by Lisa Gardner (thriller)
    10. The Second Mrs. Hockaday by Susan Rivers (historical fiction)

  3. I still have a bunch of these on my TBR. I'm hoping to get to In Some Other Life soon! I actually just finished Once and For All, and I know I'm going to be in the minority, but I wasn't crazy about it!

  4. Little Monsters was one of the best books I read this summer, too! I also red The Darkest Corners for the first time, and now I'm hooked on Kara Thomas's writing!

  5. One of Us is Lying made my favorites shelf. Loved it! I liked where McGee went with the Dazzling Heights too. I really want to read Little Monsters. I liked Thomas' first book and the reviews have been good. For your unread books, Once and For All was wonderful. I know there has been a lot of negativity for I See London, but it had a lot of fun parts.

  6. I just won One of Us is Lying and so excited to get to it. I didn't love Final Girls but it was ok. I have I see London to get to as well. My favorite books from the summer are all "older" books. Since You've Been Gone was one I loved.

  7. I really enjoyed Little Monsters - and I NEED to read One of Us Is Lying. I love the fall, but yeah, the winter isn't my favorite. I'm kind of hoping for one big snow though! I didn't get one last year.
