Top Ten Tuesday-- Books With Food

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and The Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten List that bloggers join in on answering... and today (October 17th) I'm one of them :)

Today's Topic

Top Ten Books That Make Me Hungry

1.  Heartless by Marissa Meyer

  • This book made me SO hungry.  I don't even like lemon flavored food that much, but I was CRAVING those tarts for sure!!

2.  Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller

  • Callie moves in with her bio-dad and is exposed to his giant Greek family-- and they eat a lot of Greek food that sounds delicious!

3.  Crash (Visions #1) by Lisa McMann

  • The Agnotti's and the DeMarco's own Italian restaurants, and I have to stop talking about it now because I'm craving carbs...

4.  Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

  • So much food in Harry Potter and I want to eat it all!!!  Butterbeer, pumpkin juice, chocolate frogs, pumpkin pasties, cauldron cakes-- and then there are all the feasts in the Great Hall.  So. Much. Food.

5.  From What I Remember... by Stacy Kramer & Val Thomas

  • Kylie and Max find themselves in small town Mexico and eat a lot of really awesome sounding food.

6.  To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

  • Cookies, donuts, desserts, Korean food-- SO making me hungry!!

7.  The Best Kind of Magic by Crystal Cestari

  • Amber wants to be a professional baker, so you can imagine there are a LOT of desserts in this book.

8.  Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews

  • Okay, so the food in this book is the exception to this list.  It definitely did NOT make me hungry!!  Greg's dad is an adventurous eater-- ostrich sausage, yak tripe, and dried cuttlefish just for examples :(

9.  Final Girls by Riley Sager

  • Quincy is a dessert blogger and bakes to help with her anxiety-- and being a horror novel, you can imagine there is a lot of anxiety.

10.  Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler

  • The foodiest YA book around.  You cannot read this book without wanting to visit a bakery or make your own cupcakes.  Example-- Friend of the Devil Cupcakes: red velvet devil's food cupcakes topped with red, orange, and yellow swirled buttercream icing peaks and a thin red apple curl.

I love food in books, but I'm also super lazy about cooking and baking-- so sometimes I get really hungry and sad when I read about all this yummy goodness!!

What food books made your list??

  1. Everyone's lists are making me so hungry today! I definitely agree with everything in Harry Potter - OMG, those dinners at the Great Hall, I'd weigh 1000 pounds if I went there!

  2. Yes to Harry Potter!! I forgot about Final Girls and the food but there was a lot for sure. Great picks!

  3. Oh, definitely Harry Potter. I want all of that food!

  4. Hi! Not even the cupcakes could get me into Bittersweet. There must be something wrong with me lol. Butterbeer! I should've put Harry Potter on my list :)

  5. Bittersweet was such a good book! I love Sarah Ockler. Have you read Twenty Boy Summer? It's one of my favorites!

    1. Yes, I LOVE Twenty Boy Summer!! I have loved every one of Sarah Ockler's books so far and can't wait for her to come out with something new :)

  8. Where the Stars Still Shine is such a good pick! I’d forgotten about all the delicious Greek food in that one. Great list, Michelle!

    1. Yeah, I don't even like Lemon stuff, but that book had me wanting to eat flowers at one point so......

  10. All the Boys Before series is the first thing I thought of and I couldn't agree more. I have such a sweet tooth :D

  11. Heartless definitely made me hungry as did Harry Potter! I wish I'd like Final Girls enough to finish it because Quincy's baked goods sounded amazing.

  12. Apparently I'm super bad at remembering food in books. HP didn't even come to mind! I've read THE BEST KIND OF MAGIC, but I didn't remember the MC wanting to be a pastry chef at all. Gah! I must be getting old ...

    Happy TTT!

  13. Heartless made me so hungry too! Thanks for visiting my blog earlier. :)

  14. I totally forgot about the food in Me Earl and the Dying Girl! Great list!

  15. Okay Italian is awesome so yeah, definitely a winner there. :) And Bittersweet just looks foody with that cover!

  16. YES to all the Harry Potter food. I’d love to eat that stuff.

Aj @ Read All The Things!

  17. I really wanted the Greek food in Where the Stars Still Shine, too. Itmakes me sad that I have never cooked Greek food.

  18. AWESOME list!! Thinking about the food and treats in Harry Potter always makes me hungry!

  19. I love Greek food. I have to check out that book. We have a few books in common this week too. I couldn't imagine leaving Lara Jean off my list, and I loved all the cupcakes in Bittersweet. Me and Earl had the weirdest food, but the Pho sounded good.

  20. I have a few of these on my list as well: Heartless, Harry Potter, and To All The Boys. They definitely make me hungry!! And now I really want to read The Best Kind of Magic and Bittersweet :)
