Top Ten Tuesday-- Class Presidents

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and The Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten List that bloggers join in on answering... and today (November 7th) I'm one of them :)

Today's Topic

Top Ten Characters Who Should Be Student Council Presidents

  • Since I mostly read YA, I interpreted the topic of Characters Who Would Make Great Leaders as Characters Who Could Be Class President.

1.  Adam BlakeA List of Cages by Robin Roe

  • Adam is total Class Prez material because his likability is contagious.  He's so NICE, but not in an annoying fake way.  He effortlessly floats between cliques, and would appeal to most of his class.

2.  DenverThe Lifeboat Clique by Kathy Parks

  • Denver proved on the Lifeboat that she's insanely resourceful and has great leadership skills.

3.  Audrey Rose WadsworthStalking Jack the Ripper (#1) by Kerri Maniscalco

  • Audrey isn't afraid to speak her mind and she's also super smart.  I don't really see her as being interested in running, but if she did, she would be a fab choice!

4.  Esther Solar- A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares by Krystal Sutherland

  • She's faced her fear of public speaking and she's also #internetfamous.

5.  Kennedy Rhodes- In Some Other Life by Jessica Brody

  • Kennedy is a Type A.  If she set her sights on being Class President, she would BE Class President.

6.  Lady Jane GreyMy Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodie Meadows, & Brodi Ashton

  • If she can lead a country (okay, for only 9 days, but still), I think she's capable of leading a grade.  Also, she's super book smart, and pretty resourceful too.

7.  Hadley- Vigilante by Kady Cross

  • She led a MOVEMENT, so Class President feels like the next step.

8.  Cedric DiggoryHarry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

  • Duh.  Everyone loves Cedric-- he's good at EVERYTHING.  He was bound to be Head Boy-- which is like the same thing??

9.  Adam Parrish- The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

  • Adam is going to get to college without having to owe anyone-- so Class President of Aglionby would look good on those scholarship apps.

10.  Augustus Waters- The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

  • Who wouldn't vote for Gus??  No seriously, tell me who.

Who made your lists of bookish leaders on this Election Day??

  8. Gus is a great pick! And I'd totally vote for him. :)

Glad to be reminded of 'Lifeboat.' I remember thinking that one looked really cute when its cover was making the rounds, but I'd since forgotten about it. Now I'll have to go take another look and re up on this one again.

  12. I love that you choose another character from the Harry Potter series. Cedric Diggory would be a great leader.

  14. Funny you picked Esther, because I almost included Jonah on my list. I thought he had the charisma of a great leader. Kennedy would be a great class president, because girl gets it done, and demonstrated her skills as editor. Hmmm, Adam is an interesting choice from that group. Gansey is more groomed for the role, due to his family ties, but maybe Adam could succeed on his drive alone. Gus. You're right, who wouldn't vote for Gus?

    1. Jonah definitely has that likability-- I just wanted Esther to do it since she conquered her fears and became #internetfamous. Also, I went back and forth between Adam and Gansey. Gansey is DEFINITELY more charismatic and would probably win if he ran against Adam, but I chose Adam because he's probably the only one of the crew who would want to be class president (if only for scholarship opportunity purposes).

  15. Adam is an interesting one, you'd think Gansey would be the more obvious choice, but Adam would definitely want it more!

    1. That's exactly what I was thinking!! Gansey is definitely the one with the personality for it-- but Adam would be the one to actually want to do it (if only for scholarship purposes).

  18. YES to this list! I LOVE the twist you gave the week's topic. I really would love to read The Lifeboat Clique because it sounded amazing when it came out a long time ago. I heard it was really witty and funny, and I love that you mentioned that the main character is very resourceful.
I was on hiatus for the entire month of November when I was supposed to write about this fantastic topic on leaders, so I missed it. But I wanted to do it so much that I ended up writing it anyway with my own twist and posting it on the blog weeks later. I couldn’t pass the opportunity! My twist was characters that would make great leaders of a Bank Robbery Operation!! ;)
