From What I Remember... By Stacy Kramer & Valerie Thomas

Kylie and Max wake up on graduation day in MEXICO!!!  What the heck are they doing down there, and are those wedding rings??  It all starts when Max and Kylie are assigned to be partners in a last minute paper the day before the last day of school... there is NO WAY Max (or most everyone else) is doing it, but Kylie is valedictorian and she's not going to allow one paper to bump her from that number one spot!  After tracking Max down, he finally agrees to meet with her for the assignment.  But then someone steals Kylie's backpack (with her coveted laptop in it) and takes off with it, and Kylie isn't letting it go w/out a fight.  Her and Max end up in the back of a truck driven by two bad guys headed to Mexico!!  How will they escape this?  People go to Mexico all the time and never come back, right?!!  Besides graduation is in the morning and DA the valedictorian has to give her speech!  Can they make it back in time?  And can rich popular Max and scholarship student Kylie really get through this without getting killed or killing each other??

I thought this book was adorable.  It was told through a bunch of different viewpoints including Kylie's über-gay BFF Will (who was hilarious), her Asperger's inflicted brother, Max's stuck-up girlfriend, along with Kylie and Max.  I love alternating viewpoint books!  Their story was an awesome adventure that I wish I could go on!  They're stranded in Mexico just going with the flow and it's pretty awesome.

The Max/Kylie thing was a little predictable, but if it went any other way I would've hated it!  The romance was just one part of an amazing story... and it was a sexy romance! The sub-characters in the book were probably my fav!  They weren't forced in, they had their own little stories going on too.  Jake's POV(the brother) was so refreshing and real to read.  There aren't that many books that will explore the mind of an autistic child.  And Will, he was so gay it was comical, but in an authentic way.  I think this book gets 3.5 stars from me and the only reason I can't give it 4 is that one of the chapter headings was messed up (said it was Kylie talking but it was Max) and there was a bit of a slow patch in the middle where they were sort of just repeating their feelings over and over.

It's definitely a must read this summer for YA contemporary!!

PS- another cute part of it was the movie quotes at the beginning of each chapter!!  I loved those movies!
