Top Ten Popular Authors I've Never Read
1. Jennifer L. Armentrout- This will change soon when I finally read Obsidian. But still JLA has written a ton of books and I haven't read a single one??? That is silly!
2. Jessi Kirby- She hasn't been out forever, but the kind of books she writes are just my kind. I really need to read Golden!
3. Lauren Oliver- Wanted to read Before I Fall, but never got around to it :(
4. Richelle Mead- She's written a ton of books as well and now that the Vampire Academy movie is out, I'm thinking about reading it.
5. Suzanne Collins- Yes I haven't read Hunger Games. Yes I know I'm crazy!
6. Jane Austen- Nope No Jane Austen for this girl! (Clueless is my favorite movie though)
7. Gayle Forman- I want to read everything she's written, I just haven't yet.
8. Ally Carter- I'm surprised I haven't read any of her series yet because I think I would like them. The Ghallager Girls one looks super cute!
9. Lauren Barnholdt- She's another one with a lot of books out that I just haven't tried yet. I feel like I would probably like them because they are contemporary though.
10. Cassandra Clare- Yep I'm just not really interested in her books... but EVERYONE has read them.
This was insanely easy for my because I don't read all the most popular books. I read what I want, not what is the most popular. I also read mostly Contemporary so if an author is dystopian or steampunk or vampire or whatever, I probably haven't read them. What popular authors have you been missing out on??
I don't tend to read very many popular books either, I avoid bandwagons usually..
ReplyDeleteI've read Cassandra Clare, Gayle Forman, Ally Carter, Jane Austen, but there's authors there I do want to read at some point; I like how they're all women too, quite a collection :)
My Top Ten Tuesday
Oh YES!!! Good to see that I'm not the only person who hasn't read Jane Austen, lol!!! If my list could go beyond 10, Lauren Oliver would be on it. I have her middle grade book, Liesl & Po, just haven't read it.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my TTT @ Book Hangovers Blabs Books
Thanks for sharing xoxo
Gallagher Girls is SO GOOD! Especially on audio, if you like audio books! And YES to Vampire Academy! It is definitely different from what I originally thought it would be....it is quite good! =)
ReplyDeleteAnd I haven't finished a Jane Austen, either ;-)
Jennifer @ A Librarian's Library--My TTT!
Good list, I'm pretty on the fence about reading Richelle Mead as well and I agree with the Jane Austen thing for me as well with it not being my thing despite loving Clueless. I love the Gallagher Girls series as well as her other series Heist Society I would recommend both of them they're very funny and cute. I read the first Hunger Games but didn't really love it I mean it was good but not really worth the hype in my opinion also I agree with not really wanting to read Cassandra Clare.
ReplyDeleteJLA is my favorite author and I'm currently reading White Hot Kiss! I loved the Vampire Academy series too! Here is my list: http://booklovingmommy.blogspot.com/2014/03/top-ten-tuesday-ten-popular-authors-ive.html
ReplyDeleteMy jaw hit the floor! AHHH! So many fabulous authors that you must give a chance!
ReplyDeleteI actually really loved Vampire Academy. You are the third person I think that hasn't read The Hunger Games. I really loved those books but they can't be for every person ever, you know?
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of Dystopian books but I really liked The Hunger Games. I'm pretending the series ended there though! Great list! I haven't read many of these authors either but now I want too.
ReplyDeleteI am kind of impressed that you haven't read Cassandra Clare. I have only read the first four books in the Mortal Instruments series (it should have ended at three). Anywho.. there are some great authors on your list that you haven't read. But what can you do? I also haven't read JLA or Jessi Kirby. Someday.
ReplyDeleteAs long as your reading books you enjoy that's all that matters =) Just because the author is popular doesn't necessarily mean the book is good. I would highly recommend Ally Carter, The Gallagher Girl series is one of my all time favorites. Some big authors I've never read are: JK Rowling and Sarah Dessen.
ReplyDeleteI really love Ally Carter's books.
ReplyDeleteI need to read Lauren B - several of the girls at the library have been reading and loving her books
I have read most of these. A few I have not. great list.
ReplyDeleteYou've got some BIG names on this list! Richelle Mead, Cassandra Clare, Gayle Forman - they're all authors I read before I got big into YA, and probably helped contribute to my love of the category :D
ReplyDeleteI've only read 4 of these authors. But, do own books by some of the others that I need to read.
ReplyDeleteJLA, Jessica Kirby, Gayle Forman and Richelle Mead are amazing! I've only read one book by Cassandra Clare and didn't really enjoy it, she's a little too detailed for my taste.
ReplyDeleteSo many of my fave authors on here! Gayle Foreman, Richelle Mead, Jane Austen, Suzanne Collins - all amazing!
ReplyDeleteGasp! No Jane Austen?!? That shocks me more than anything else on your list! lol. You do have to have a certain taste for them though, so if it's not your thing, then it's not your thing.
ReplyDeleteI was going to put Suzanne Collins in all caps, but decided to save it for an author that is my absolute favorite....ALLY CARTER. Michelle, you would love her. READ.
ReplyDeleteI feel like maybe I knew you haven't read anything by Gayle Forman, but you have to read something by her soon! I've read all of Jessi Kirby's books and Golden is my least favorite, but I know everyone else loved it. I actually like her first book, Moonstruck, the best. And I read one Lauren Barnholdt book and that was enough for me. I thought it was very cliche and just kind of simple? Like there was nothing surprising or nuanced about it.
ReplyDeleteI've only read Clare, Mead, and Collins so don't feel too bad :) Definitely a shocker though because The Hunger Games is so huge! Have you seen the movies?
ReplyDeleteWhoops, and Ally Carter. Almost forgot her! :)
Collins , Armentrout and Oliver are great authors. love their books! I hope you get a chance to read them soon, especially the Hunger games series, but I definitely know how hard it is to start a series that already has so much hype surrounding it.. happy reading and thanks for stopping by my STS ! ~ Katie @ Inkk Reviews
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, Suzanne Collins made my list too :(
ReplyDeleteI think you would love Gayle Forman. I need to read Just One Day and Just One Year soon. I would also highly suggest Cassandra Clare. I still need to finish the Infernal Devices Trilogy.
