Today's Topic
Top Ten Books I Wish Would Be Made Into Graphic Novels
- So the original topic for today was supposed to be favorite graphic novels or comics, but since I don't read near enough of those to make a list, I decided to think of books I wish would be made into graphic novels. The better question may have been which books I DON'T want to be GNs because I could have made this a list of 30 easily. I guess there are a lot of books that I wish I could put a visual to. Anyway, here is the narrowed down list:
1. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by People- I think it would be much better suited in visual form (I mean, I guess it already IS since it's a play, but still would be fun as a GN too).
2. The Women in the Walls by Amy Lukavics- Would love to see the creepiness!!
3. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater- Duh. She's an ARTIST, so obviously this would be FABULOUS as a GN.
4. Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger- How cool would it be to see this world come to life in pictures?
5. Sloppy Firsts (Jessica Darling #1) by Megan McCafferty- Anything Jessica Darling is a YES for me, but I'd love to see what Marcus Flutie looks like.
6. Fallout (Lois Lane #1) by Gwenda Bond- YES to high school Lois Lane in a GN.
7. This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers- I just wanted to put a Courtney Summers book on this list-- and also, ZOMBIES!!
8. Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin- Remember this book? Well, if you don't it's about an after-life world-- and I think it would make a fab graphic novel.
9. Winger by Andrew Smith- Ryan Dean West drawn out?? YES!!! Plus, I need to see the grocery store "consequence" scene.
10. Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli- seriously, this needs to happen.
Honorable Mentions:
- The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour- NEED MORE GIRL BAND EVERYTHING.
- Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler- Cupcakes and Hockey Boys?? Who wouldn't want that in picture form?
- The Ghost and the Goth by Stacey Kade- Would love to see what Will sees.
- The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee- It would be cool to see this world.
What Graphic Novels/Comics made your lists this week?
FUN twist on today's topic, Michelle! I feel like Gail's books would be great graphic novels - even though I've not read them, they have that "look" about them. Also 'Ghost and Goth' is another series I cannot wait to read, and seems like it too would be a good transition. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I hope you read The Ghost and the Goth!! It is so stinking cute!
DeleteI just read Etiquette & Espionage, and that would have been awesome as a graphic novel.
ReplyDeleteI would love to read Cursed Child and the The Women in the Walls as graphic novels! Love your list this week.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea this week Michelle! :-) So many of these would work well as graphic novels. :-)
ReplyDeleteI bet Etiquette & Espionage would be a good GN!
ReplyDeleteThe Thousandth Floor too would make a good one from what I've heard.
Such a good idea for this week's TTT. I loved the drawings in Winger, so to see an entire graphic novel of that would be awesome. As well as Stargirl and The Raven Boys!
ReplyDeleteYES!! I totally forgot about the drawings in Winger!! But totally would be cool to see all of it illustrated.
DeleteNice twist on the topic, I'd like a graphic adaptation of a few books.... I'd love an adaptation of Daughter of Smoke and Bone especially (not on your list) and of course Harry Potter & The Cursed Child. I really should give some of the others on your list a try!
ReplyDeleteOMG I love your spin on it! I would love a Raven Cycle graphic novel set! Maggie would make them awesome! I'd also love Daughter of Smoke and Bone just throwing that out there into the world! My Top Ten
ReplyDeleteRight?? Maggie could make the best graphic novels!!

ReplyDeleteYou SO do. It's a very underrated series!
DeleteThis is such a fun list! I would love a Sloppy Firsts and Winger GN! Ryan Dean & Marcus Flutie! <3 <3 The Disenchantments and Bittersweet would be fantastic too.
ReplyDeleteI love your take on today's theme- and YES to all of these being graphic novels. The Ghost and the Goth would be perfect, but I would kill for a Ravens Boy or a Lois Lane graphic novel!

Stargirl? I think the book is sheer perfection in its current stat I wouldn't want anything to spoil it. I agree that the Curse Child would be good in the graphic layout.
