Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Synopsis:
Ever since last year’s homecoming dance, best friends-turned-best enemies Zorie and Lennon have made an art of avoiding each other. It doesn’t hurt that their families are the modern day, Californian version of the Montagues and Capulets.
But when a group camping trip goes south, Zorie and Lennon find themselves stranded in the wilderness. Alone. Together.
What could go wrong?
With no one but each other for company, Zorie and Lennon have no choice but to hash out their issues via witty jabs and insults as they try to make their way to safety. But fighting each other while also fighting off the forces of nature makes getting out of the woods in one piece less and less likely.
And as the two travel deeper into Northern California’s rugged backcountry, secrets and hidden feelings surface. But can Zorie and Lennon’s rekindled connection survive out in the real world? Or was it just a result of the fresh forest air and the magic of the twinkling stars?

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Could you tell our Book Addicts a little bit about STARRY EYES?
An astronomy-loving girl gets stuck in the California wilderness with a boy who broke her heart. Their story has both glamping AND off-trail camping, wild animals, a gothy hero, an awesome step-mother/daughter relationship, a sex shop, and most importantly: two people getting handsy in a tent.
What 3 hashtags would you most associate with your book? (Could be a word or phrase or anything that would instantly make you think of STARRY EYES.)
#campinghorrorstories #giantsequoiatrees #bearvaults
Besides reading, writing, and blogging, I love fashion!! What would Zorie wear on a typical school day?
Plaid. Zorie is an all-plaid girl, especially in red and black. She also wears glasses with brightly colored frames.
If you had to pick a favorite book boyfriend from your YA books, which guy would steal your teenage heart?
Probably the one I’m writing right now: the hero of my upcoming 1930s romantic adventure book that’s coming fall of 2019. It doesn’t have a title yet, but the hero’s name is Huxley (and longtime readers will see a little of Jupe in him).
Tell us your favorite quote from STARRY EYES.
“I’m going to accidently kiss you now.”
Is there a specific scene that you had the most fun to write? Or which part was the most difficult to get through?
There’s a scene in a tent cabin, in which Lennon is talking about another character’s cologne, and it’s basically Lennon trolling Zorie, and everyone in the tent is obvious but the two of them. I laugh every time I read it.
If you had to pick one song to be the Theme Song for STARRY EYES– Which one would you pick?
"Vienna” by Makthaverskan
Are there any recommendations you could give your readers to be in the “perfect mood” to read STARRY EYES (specific music, snacks…)?
It’s best read under a blanket, outside, at night, by flashlight.
What’s next for you?
Two books are coming in 2019. My next contemporary YA romance is called SERIOUS MOONLIGHT: a mystery-loving girl and a boy who does magic tricks develop a relationship while working nights in a downtown Seattle hotel…and moonlighting as detectives. And in fall of 2019, my first historical YA will be published—a romantic 1930s travel adventure in Romania. Magic, cursed objects, witches, and a ridiculous amount of excellent banter.
Thanks so much for talking with us Jenn!! I think Zorie and I could share closets because plaid is a giant YES for me. And both of the 2019 books are going on my TBR-- they sound amazing!!!
