Top Ten Tuesday- Books for those who like Dexter

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and The Bookish.  Each week they post a new Top Ten List that bloggers join in on answering... and today (April 28th) I'm one of them :)

Today's Topic

Top Ten Books If You Like Dexter

-So I started watching Dexter on Netflix a few weeks ago... and it's pretty addicting.  I'm not a huge horror fan... I like to read about serial killers, but I don't like seeing blood and guts on screen.  BUT Dexter really isn't like that.  Sure there is killing going on, but most of the gross stuff isn't shown.  ANYWAY for those of you who haven't watched the show (or read the books), it's about a serial killer named Dexter who works with the Miami PD in forensics.  He's also a serial killer by night, but only kills people who "deserve" to die, per his adopted father's wishes.  It's really good and if you haven't watched it, I so recommend!

Here are some books I've read that I think would go good with this TV show:

1.  I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga- This series is about a kid who grew up having the world's most notorious serial killer as his dad.
2.  American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis- This book is about the infamous Patrick Bateman, who by day is a Wall Street guy and by night kills people.
3.  Shadowlands by Kate Brian- Rory and her family get put in witness protection after a serial killer posing as her teacher tries to kill her.
4.  Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott- A disturbing book about a girl who has been kidnapped by a pedophile.
5.  Rosebush by Michele Jaffe- It's not really about serial killers, but it is about Jane finding out who tried to kill her... and the list is long.
6.  The Lovely Bones by Alice Seabold- Susie is killed by a serial killer and she watches over her family in the years after.
7.  The Night She Disappeared by April Henry- A pizza delivery girl is kidnapped and held by a killer.

Books I Haven't Read But Want To:

8.  I Am Not a Serial Killer by Dan Wells- This is about a boy who DOESN'T want to become a serial killer, so he studies them to try to stop himself from becoming one.
9.  Killer Instinct by S.E. Green- A GIRL who thinks she's a serial killer who hasn't killed yet.  And she's into vigilante justice just like Dexter!
10.  Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell- A GIRL killer who kills people according to letters she gets from people.
11.  Complicit by Stephanie Kuehn- Sounds creepy and seems like it goes right along with these other books.

So these were my picks for Dexter books.  Of course, the Dexter series is based on a book series which I would like to read one of these days.  Do you know of any other good serial killer/murder mystery books I should check out??
