ARC August-- Wrap-up Post

August is over already!!  GAH, I am not happy.  Now there's school (for my son), and homework, and sports/activities to go to.  There's no more vacation to look forward to.... and COLD is on the way!!  I'm now on the edge of the last of the nice days.  I hate winter with a passion, so this is not cool :(

ANYWAY, with the end of August comes the end of ARC August-- which is a challenge that Read.Sleep.Repeat hosts to help motivate us to clear out some of those ARCs lying around.

For this challenge, I challenged myself to read 8 books.  4 Newer ARCs that I wanted to get done early, and 4 older ARCs that OMG I am embarrassed I haven't gotten to yet!!

Well here's something about me: I suck at challenges.

I said I was going to read THESE:

But I really only read THESE:

  • The Light Fantastic by Sarah Combs- GAHHHH I loved this book.  I can already tell it's going to be fabulously underrated and overlooked, but it SO shouldn't be!
  • Get Even (Don't Get Mad #1) by Gretchen McNeil- It was Pretty Little Liars in all the best ways :)
  • The Edge of Forever by Melissa E. Hurst- Not as good as I had hoped.
  • Anatomy of a Misfit by Andrea Portes- Blog review coming- SUPER unique voice.  I'm still trying to figure out what I think of it... but it's more positive than negative.
  • Stealing Snow (#1) by Danielle Paige- DNF- I just wasn't feeling this.  It didn't world-build, the writing wasn't fab :(

So 50% of my goal.  I should've figured.  I'm SUCH a mood reader and it's really hard for me to make a plan.  For instance, Anatomy of a Misfit wasn't on my initial plan, but it's an older ARC that I needed to read & found myself more in the mood for it than the other books I picked.  And What Light by Jay Asher is one of my OMG MUST READ BOOKS, but I'm so not in the mood to think about Christmas yet (and the book is set around that holiday).

I'll be checking the linky to see how everyone else did in the challenge.  I hope you guys killed off more TBR than I did... but hey, at least I got some of those older ARCs out of the way (and I actually LOVED Get Even, so it's all good).

    1. Isn't that terrible!! As much as we HAD TO HAVE IT. I guess I just didn't expect it to be so humongous. Big books intimidate me because SO MUCH COMMITMENT!!!

  2. You still did great! You should read Girl in Pieces. It's so dark, so realistic, and definitely a book that everyone needs to read.

    1. Girl in Pieces does sound fab. Next time I'm in the mood for emotional, I'm going to start it!

  3. That's great you got some older ARCs in, and I think you did fairly well! You might have strayed from the original list, but you still got a lot of ARCs in, I think! I still need to do a wrap-up post but I'm about to leave for London, so it might be late. haha I did really well on the challenge though, which is a surprise for me!

    1. YAY glad you did good on this challenge. I'm terrible at challenges in general. I don't think I've ever been successful with the Goodreads Challenge and I've been trying for 5 years :) I always think I can read more than I can.

  7. I'm a total mood reader too, I think it's great you got 5 arcs read! Especially older ones. That's always my problem too, I have a couple really old ones I wanted to read. I ended up reading 7 arcs, but only 2 old ones.
