Synopsis:

Trapped on the ice-planet of Delon, gamer girl Sofi and Ambassador Miguel have discovered that nothing is what it seems, including their friends. On a quest to rescue her brother, Shilo, a boy everyone believes is dead, they must now escape and warn Earth of Delon’s designs on humanity. Except the more they unearth of the planet and Sofi’s past, the more they feel themselves unraveling, as each new revelation has Sofi questioning the very existence of reality.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, Sofi’s mom, Inola, is battling a different kind of unraveling: a political one that could cost lives, positions, and a barely-rebuilt society, should they discover the deal made with the Delonese.

But there’s a secret deeper than all that. One locked away inside Sofi and ticking away with the beginnings, endings, and answers to everything. Including how to save humanity.

The First Book in the Series

Ever since the Delonese ice-planet arrived eleven years ago, Sofi's dreams have been vivid. Alien. In a system where Earth's corporations rule in place of governments and the humanoid race orbiting the moon are allies, her only constant has been her younger brother, Shilo. As an online gamer, Sofi battles behind the scenes of Earth's Fantasy Fighting arena where Shilo is forced to compete in a mix of real and virtual blood sport. But when a bomb takes out a quarter of the arena, Sofi's the only one who believes Shilo survived. She has dreams of him. And she's convinced he's been taken to the ice-planet.

Except no one but ambassadors are allowed there.

For Miguel, Earth's charming young playboy, the games are of a different sort. As Ambassador to the Delonese, his career has been built on trading secrets and seduction. Until the Fantasy Fight's bomb goes off. Now the tables have turned and he's a target for blackmail. The game is simple: Help the blackmailers, or lose more than anyone can fathom, or Earth can afford.

Mary, we are so happy to have you back!!  We loved the first book in the series and can’t wait to catch back up with the Sofi!

Aw yaaay! I’m thrilled to be back with you amazing ladies!

What is the last book you read that made you want to shout it’s awesomeness from the mountain tops?

Love this question! On the fiction front – Lorie Langdon’s Olivia Twist, which comes out this month! Such a fun (and romantic) twist on the original!

And in non-fiction – Brene Brown’s Braving the Wilderness, which is about belonging to oneself enough to brave being different. Definitely a must-read!

What books/authors have most made an impact on you/inspired you to write?

Oh goodness, can I just say, “All of them”? *laughs* I think every story changes a bit of who we are, but a few that stand out would be:
  • THE SECRET GARDEN (This is the first book I remember being given. I read and reread it more times than I know, and I still own my copy.)
  • WITHER by Destefano, & SHATTER ME by Mafi (Both were my first experiences with the type of gorgeous, first person narratives that are distinctive to YA and made me fall in love with it.)
  • AGATHA CHRISTIE (My teen years were spent reading every mystery of hers.)
  • DOSTOEVSKY (His ability in his stories to explore the depths of the human condition still astounds me, and it pushes me to dig deeper into my own.)

Could you tell our readers a little bit about The Evaporation of Sofi Snow series?

Sure! The series revolves around an ice planet that’s suddenly appeared beside Earth’s moon, and a gamer girl who believes her brother’s been abducted by the aliens inhabiting the planet. It’s a fast-paced story (the two books read as one) of siblings, virtual gaming, violent betrayals, high-stakes tension, creepy aliens, and a mind twist that is really rather delightful. Also, there’s a rather gorgeous ambassador, so… ;)

What can we expect from RECLAIMING SHILO SNOW?

Tears, fast-paced mind games, political intrigue, family drama, laughter, alien experimentation, and renewed hope for our world.

Can you tell us 3 interesting things about Shilo?
  • He’s an old soul
  • He’s fierce and mischievous, and does he even exist?
  • If so, he’s got a secret that can destroy humanity

Tell us your favorite quote from RECLAIMING SHILO SNOW.

“Sofi had maintained compassion. And that was her greatest weapon. A person could change history with that kind of thing.”

I think it’s my favorite simply because it’s absolutely what I believe.

What 3 hashtags would you most associate with RECLAIMING SHILO SNOW? (Could be a word or phrase or anything that would instantly make you think of the series or RECLAIMING SHILO SNOW.)

#AlienMindControl
#NeverUnderestimateAGirl
#AliensTakeOnWorldGirlTakesOnAliens

Since the second book is partially set on Delon— can you tell us 3 interesting things about this planet?

(1) Delon is an ice planet that’s currently sitting beside Earth’s moon
(2) Delon is actually a space-station, not a planet
(3) The aliens keep bodies in their basements (well, technically space station rooms, but…) ;)

Hogwarts House?

GRYFFINDORS REPRESENT!

If you had to pick one song to be the Theme Song for RECLAIMING SHILO SNOW– Which one would you pick?

I wrote most of Reclaiming Shilo Snow to Ghost by Halsey and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips, so there you go! ;)

What’s next for you?

I have a girl-powered light fantasy coming out next March with Harper and I CANNOT WAIT TO TALK ABOUT IT!!!!!

Thank you for having me, friends!!!
