The End of Year Fear: 2018 Edition

It's officially time to PANIC!!

It's December (how did that happen?), and every December I start thinking about all the books I wanted to read in the previous year and STILL HAVEN'T YET!!  Every year end I have (at least) 1 stack of books that I was really really excited about and didn't get around to reading.  This is usually due to me being a slow reader, a mood reader, and a hype-avoider.

So, here are the books that I'd really like to get to before 2019, and I probably won't:

Sawkill Girls by Claire LeGrand

  • I don't read a ton of books like this, but it sounds eerie and I want to try it.

Geography of Lost Things by Jessica Brody
  • I love Jessica Brody SO MUCH.  Her books are my kind of books even if I'm not that into Contemporary Romance anymore.

Little White Lies by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
  • I have never read a book by this author and I've been wanting to.  I was hoping for a super interesting debutante Mystery/Thriller, but I've heard it's light on the Mystery/Thriller part.

Rabbit & Robot by Andrew Smith
  • I love Andrew Smith, but I DEFINITELY have to be in the mood for his weirdness.

The Last to Let Go by Amber Smith
  • I loved The Way I Used to Be and was SO EXCITED for a new book by this author-- and then I just didn't read it??

More Than We Can Tell (Letters to the Lost #2) by Brigid Kemmerer
  • I loved Letters to the Lost and wanted to know all about Rev and his story-- but then I was never in the mood for the emotions, so I've put it off.

The Lies They Tell by Gillian French
  • I must read this book.

Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer
  • I was hoping to read this before Halloween and that was a big fail.

The Lying Woods by Ashley Elston
  • This is another book that is MUST READ.

Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson
  • Doesn't this book sound and look AMAZING??  I can't believe I didn't read it when it came out.

Since I am physically unable to read 10 books in the next 4 weeks, I need your help deciding which books to push to the front of the line.

Which books should I make top priority before 2019 happens?

  1. JUST READ THE LYING WOODS AND EVERYTHING WILL BE OKAY<3 (just an fyi that's it reads much more like a contemporary than a thriller, but it's PERFECT).

  2. I read Undead Girl Gang, it is cute and quirky but not a drop everything now and read book. I have the Lying Woods audiobook on hold at the library, I will let you know when I listen. Other than that, all the others are not on my list. I learned not to stress too much about what I can get done and can’t. Just go with the flow.

    1. I have never read anything by her yet!!! It seems so odd because I love the types of books she writes. Hopefully LITTLE WHITE LIES is in my near future!

  11. Oh that Scooby GIF- awesome. :) I vote for The Lying Woods because it sounds great, and I liked The Lies They Tell a lot- but it wasn't AWESOME, you know? So I'd say read it haha but I'm not sure I'd put it on top of the list- it was like a B for me. Definitely worth a read, just not super AMAZING.

Sawkill Girls I never paid much attention to but I just saw a trusted blogger rave about it last week I think it was...

    1. Thank you!! I scoured the depths of the gif-dom to find the perfect gif for the panic feeling. hahaha. I'm glad to hear someone you trust loved SAWKILL GIRLS. I am super intriuged & curious about it. Bummer about THE LIES THEY TELL. I still want to try it bc I loved that author's debut, but I don't own it, so it probably won't happen til next year anyway.

  12. Okay, I would not be much of a help here because I haven't also read these books yet. The Sawkill Girls appeals to me and I've heard good things about it. Also, Rabbit and Robot is going to be featured in RivetedLit this month as one of their free reads so there's no harm for me checking it out.

    1. RABBIT & ROBOT is definitely weird. I read the first few pages and I was like "Oh, I'm gonna need to be in the MOOD for this one". But hopefully that mood will strike soon, because I like weird!!
