Top Ten Tuesday-- Should They Stay or Should They Go?

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme now hosted over at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week they post a new Top Ten List that bloggers join in on answering... and today (February 5th) I'm one of them :)

Today's Topic

Top Ten Upcoming Releases I'm On The Fence About

  • I am a notorious slow reader (at least compared to some of you guys), so I **think I want to read these upcoming books, but with a limited reading schedule will I really have time??  Help me decide which of these should be definites and which are mehhhh.

1.  Screen Queens by Lori Goldstein- the cover screams ME, but will I like a book about a tech competition??

2.  Happy Messy Scary Love by Leah Konen- I'm picky about romance, but this one sounds cute & I like the premise.

3.  This Book is Not Yet Rated by Peter Bognanni- I haven't really heard anything about this book, but I'm all about saving the nostalgia!!

4.  Fan the Flame by Anna Primes- There's only so many "dangers of the internet" I want to read, so should this one be one of them??

5.  Goodbye Perfect by Sara Barnard- I've never read anything by this author and I kind of want to??

6.  Teeth in the Mist by Dawn Kurtagich- I didn't love the one book I read by this author, but I do like mysteries that play out over time...

7.  When I Was Summer by J.B. Howard- I am super picky about road trip books (and band books TBH).

8.  What We Buried by Kate A. Boorman- Another book with a road trip, but it sounds a lot darker?

9.  When the Light Went Out by Bridget Morrisey- I haven't really heard anyone talking about this one, but there's a reunion of old friends and a scavenger hunt to solve a mystery???  Sounds kind of interesting.

10.  The Devouring Gray (#1) by Christine Lynn Herman- I really don't read Fantasy, but my goal is to try to fit in at least 1-3 per year.  This could be a candidate.

So, have you read any of these yet??  Heard anything about them??  Think any sound like they should be keepers?

  1. The Devouring Gray is so good! I think you'll really like it. It's very light on the fantasy and it's more thrillery!

  4. Great list! I'm not sure if I'm going to read The Devouring Gray or not either; I'm not sure if it's my thing but I do keep hearing amazing things about it. I hope you enjoy all of these if you get to them!

  5. What We Buried has popped up on several lists this week. It does sound intriguing.

This is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

  6. I'm so excited for The Devouring Gray, I reckon if you're not a massive fantasy lover it would probably be quite good for you though because it's a contemporary fantasy so there's not quite as much to get your head around as in a high fantasy!

  8. I've been seeing This Book is Not Yet Rated on various lists, but haven't really read what it's all about. Also, Happy Messy Scary Love looks kinda interesting. I don't think I've seen that one around anywhere! Best take a second look. :)

  9. I really, really want to read the first 4 (I have two of them), and I really liked Goodbye, Perfect. I am a fan of Barnard's. I am interested in When I Was Summer too. Sounds like a good fit for me.

  10. The Devouring Gray is one I'm hopefully optimistic about, but still a bit unsure. I'll probably get it, and What We Buried looks like a trip.

  12. These all have really cool covers but I am actually kind of meh about them, too. I feel like a super slow reader compared to my friends sometimes. Don't sweat it though. Go at your own pace.

  13. I am going to read Devouring Gray soon, so I can let you know! Teeth in the Mist sounds good and I liked one of the author's books better than the other, so I think I'll give it a go! What We Buried... I can't decide if you should? Like- I liked it and it was a SUPER quick read that I couldn't put down, but also, I don't think I understand the ending? So I am torn on that one! But if you DO read it, maybe we can figure it out together hahah.

  14. I have an ARC for The Devouring Gray, but I haven't read it yet. Hopefully in about a week. Hope it's good! I haven't read the other ones either.

I think even if you read a lot, there's still so many other books out there that it's impossible to read everything you want.
