Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that bloggers join in on answering. And today I'm one of them :)

This week the topic is:

Top Ten X Genre Books:
I'm supposed to fill in the X with my choice.... and I'm going to go ahead and choose:
YA Books about Death/Suicide.... (really cheery, I know)

1.  Love You, Hate You, Miss You -By: Elizabeth Scott
I started reading this one and just wanted to read all night to finish it.  I love how the main character comes across so real and truthful.  You can't help but feel for her.

2.  Hate List -By: Jennifer Brown
It's a book about grieving for someone you're not allowed to grieve for.  Val is devastated by the loss of her boyfriend, but he did a terrible thing that she can't understand.  She's stuck between sadness and anger, suspicion and savior.

3.  Cracked Up To Be -By: Courtney Summers
It's all about guilt in this one.  Guilt and forgiveness.

4.  Thirteen Reasons Why -By: Jay Asher
Well you can't have a suicide list without this book.  It's THE suicide book.  I really liked this one because of the non-traditional element of it (the whole listening to a cassette tape thing).

5.  The Lovely Bones -By: Alice Sebold
Not really sure this is classified as YA, but it's about a young girl so I'm gonna go ahead and put it in that range.  Awesomely sad book, so much better than the movie!!

6.  Wintergirls -By: Laurie Halse Anderson
Not my favorite by this author (seriously can anything be as good as Speak??), but it's still a good one about death.

7.  Aimee -By: Mary Beth Miller
This is another book that you just have to find out what happened, even if you're up til 3 AM.

8.  Impulse -By: Ellen Hopkins
I love her books!!  Prose books are so cool!  I especially loved Connor!!

9.  Please Ignore Vera Dietz -By: A.S. King
One of the best books I read last year!  So heartbreaking... although I could've done without the whole pet shop thing...

10.  Undone -By: Brooke Taylor
A great book about friendship and loss.

So that's it.... sorry I was such a downer today!

  8. Also, I feel like I don't know many people who've read Aimee. I read that 5 or 6 years ago and really really liked it.

  9. I love that you did something different! I love Dystopia, but I'm kind of getting sick of seeing the same books over and over, so Bravo! to you. You've earned a new follower in me for your originality! I've read a bunch of these and you have great taste in death books! I would have also added If I Stay by Gayle Foreman (it's kind of a death book) and Everlost by Neal Shusterman! Happy Reading!
