One Moment By Kristina McBride

Maggie has a pretty great life... she hangs out with a group of friends she's had since grade-school, including her amazing boyfriend Joey.  Memorial Day weekend is supposed to be a fun weekend of parties and swimming, but then dare-devil Joey has an accident... and everything changes.  The 5 friends are all trying to deal with the death of their friend, while Maggie is trying to figure out what really happened the day Joey died.  She knows they went to the top of the jumping rock together, but doesn't seem to remember what happened after that.  Why did he jump and she didn't?  It seems everyone (including the police, Joey's parents, Shannon) needs to know the answer.  As Maggie struggles to regain her memories, she starts finding out things about Joey... secrets he'd had.  And Maggie starts to wonder "How well can you ever really know a person?"

I loved this book!!  It was seriously addicting for me.  I kind of knew the direction it was going in, but I still had to read it to believe it!  I don't want to give anything away, but I really liked the issue of dealing with someone's flaws after they are dead.  When someone dies all people want to remember are the good things, but this book made the characters face the issue of a flawed character dying with unresolved issues (and not good ones).  I thought it was cool that the author chose to make the character's life a mystery and not so much his death.

The writing in it is excellent and it's a pretty fast read (because it's hard to put down).  It would be a really good beach read for this summer because it's got that whole mystery thing going on, and it's set in the summer months.  Definitely one of my favorites over the last few months!
