Project Fairy Tale- Peter Pan

I signed up to do Project Fairy Tale over at The Cheap Reader.  Each blogger will read an original fairy tale and then read 3 retellings/spin-offs of it.  I chose to do Peter Pan because there are some amazing characters in that story and I've always wanted to read the original book.  The actual event is going on in Feb. or March 2013, but she wanted us to post a little thing about what our plans were... so here's mine:

 Peter Pan
By: J.M. Barrie
Obviously first up is the original, which was published in 1911 as Peter Pan and Wendy.

These are the books I've found but haven't chosen which ones I'm actually reading yet:
Wendy By Karen Wallace
The Lost Girls By Laurie Fox
Tiger Lily By Jodi Lynn Anderson
Another Pan By Daniel Nayeri
Tigerheart By Peter David
I've already read Forever Neverland By Heather Killough-Walden and it was fabulous... hopefully the sequel Beyond Neverland will be out by the time we do this!

I would like to read something super loosely based on it if I can find something... I'd love to hear suggestions!  Also it would be cool to do a movie post of the cartoon Disney movie, Hook, and Finding Neverland.  Hook was my cousins favorite movie when she was a kid and I have a really funny story that involves it... haha I smile just thinking about it.

Oh and you can go HERE to find out more about this event if you want to do it or follow it :)

Have you read any of these or anything else that relates to Peter Pan?

  2. I haven't read any of the books you mentioned, except for the original 'Peter Pan' so I can't wait to see your reviews! :) The only other Peter Pan retelling that I've heard of (but haven't read yet) is 'Hook & Jill' by Andrea Jones.

  3. I'm jealous I didn't think of this one... Peter Pan is one of my favorite stories! You have such a wonderful list of retellings; I'm going to have to add them to my TBR list. I did read Tiger Lily this summer and I highly recommend it. It was a beautiful tale.

    Have fun!

  4. You should look into "The Child Thief" by Brom. I'd say it's "super loosely based" off Peter Pan. A MUCH darker version, too.

  5. Michelle, I've somehow only just seen your comment on The Cheap Reader about guest posting.

I'm hosting Alice in Wonderland and I'd love to have you guest post if you were still interested? I'm open to pretty much any ideas - reviews of retellings/films, things inspired by Alice (recipes, outfits, nail art, music playlists, anything!), or anything else you can think of!

Feel free to comment on my blog, send me a message on twitter or email me (faith [at] studentspyglass [dot] com) if you'd still be interested :)
    Faith
