Top Ten Tuesday- Bookish Goals

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and The Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten List that bloggers join in on answering... and today (January 8th) I'm one of them :)

This week the topic is:

Top Ten Bookish Goals For 2013

1.  Graduate College- This involves books right?  I'm super excited to finish my degree in May and NEVER have to take classes again (unless I want to).

2.  Make my blog bigger and better- I'd like to really grow my blog in 2013.  Don't get me wrong, I put A LOT of work into my blog in 2012, but it was a learning curve.  Now I feel like I know where I want to go with it and I'm going to work hard to do it.  I'd also like to do a redesign.

3.  Read More Books!- In 2012 I only read 70 books and I really want to read at least 100 in 2013.  There are just too many books that are coming out that I want to read, plus the awesome ones that have already came out that I haven't gotten to yet.

4.  Meet & connect with more bloggers- I love the book blogging community and I love people who love to talk about books... I don't really know anyone in my real life who: a.  Likes to read as much as I do or b. Reads YA.

5.  Go to some book festivals- I'm meeting Sarah Dessen on January 18th and am so excited about it, but I also want to go to some bigger things like the Baltimore BookFesival and the DC National Book Festival.

6.  Reach my goals in book challenges- I'm doing the YA Contemporary Challenge @ Katie's Book Blog and the TBR Reading Challenge at Bookish.  I also want to finish the A-Z challenge this year at my book club and do better on the quarterly challenges.

7.  Connect with more authors and publishers- I LOVE talking with authors about their books, whether it's on Twitter or email, I just get so happy to talk people who have written books.  I would like to get some more publishing contacts because I just think it would be good for my blog :)

8.  Be more organized- My blogging area is kind of a wreck right now and I have books scattered all over the house.  I need to get that under control.  (This also includes remembering to take books back to the library or calling to renew so I'm not paying so much in fines like every time I go there).

9.  Read more non-YA books- I will always read and love YA best over any other genre, no matter what, BUT I used to read really cool biographies, true-crime stuff, and adult fiction like The Devil Wears Prada and In Her Shoes.  Maybe 2013 will be the year I get back into some of that stuff.

10.  Get some more posts ready in advance- I barely ever have time to just bank posts.  If a post goes up, it's usually because I wrote it right before (or at most the night before) it goes up.  It would be nice to have some reviews saved up in case I get sick or just get really busy!

So those are my goals for this year... what were yours?

  1. Great goals. I've carried over my short story challenge from last year and made the TBR pile attack official with a challenge. Love book festivals. We have a great one in Austin, Texas every year. Have fun.

    Here's my list of goals.

  2. Great goals! I think many bloggers struggle with similar things (getting posts done in advance, breaking into new genres, etc). Good luck! Also, I ditto you on the book festivals and events. I think I am going to BEA this year, which makes me both excited and nervous. :)

  3. Amazing goals! :) If you have a chance to meet authors then go for it! :) Don't let anything stop you. I'd go but I live so far away. On the other side I should be more organized and get more posts in advance. But it takes time to get into routine. Great goals! :) Good Luck and thanks for stopping by :)

  5. Oooo - precongrats on the college graduation! :) And, I agree - I want to connect with more bloggers! Nobody I know in real life is as hooked on YA either! And, book festivals sound fun too! Oh and I'm a YA indie author, so I can help you on goal #7 - hi! :)

  9. Re: banking posts, what sometimes helps me is when I find an idea that I know I want to write about but don't have the time to do so, I'll just save the idea in a draft post in my Blogger Dashboard. Once that's done, I won't run the risk of forgetting my fantastic idea and I can go back to it later. Just a thought. :)
