Fairytale Survey

This is a survey that Mel from The Daily Prophecy put up on her blog today.  She invited us all to fill it out too and since it looks like fun, I am!!  You should totally go over to her blog and check out her answers and even fill this out and link it up with her :)

PART 1. CLASSIC PRINCESSES.

Pinocchio – The boy whose nose grows when he lies.
Is there are book you lie about, because you feel ashamed for liking it?
All the books I love ROCK!!!  Sorry but I just have good taste in books and would never be ashamed of any of them :)

Beauty and the beast – The girl who fell in love with personality.
Which book do you love that has a hideous cover?
I loved Catalyst by Laurie Halse Anderson... but that cover is just BAD!!

Snow white – Hunted down for her beauty.
Do you ever buy a book based on the cover alone and if so, what is the last one?
So many!!!  SO DAMN MANY!!! I'm a sucker for pretty covers!  Like Hysteria by Megan Miranda, The Lying Game, Blaze by Laurie Boyle Crompton, Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler, Shadowlands by Kate Brian.

Sleeping beauty – Cursed to sleep, awakened by true loves kiss.
What is your favorite book couple?
Echo and Noah from Pushing the Limits AND Sam and Jase from My Life Next Door.

Little Mermaid – Gave up on her old life for love.
Do you ever branch out to new genres or do you like to stick with the ones you know and love? If you try new things out, what is the latest book?
I have issues branching out.  I shared with you before how I've been rigid on branching out.  My comfort zone is YA Contemporary and I really need to get out of it.  The last book I read out of my comfort zone was The Diviners by Libba Bray... and I loved it!

Cinderella – Who lost her shoe after midnight.
What is the last book that made you stay up all night?
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell.  Wow that book!!

Rapunzel – locked up in a tower.
What is  the worst books you’ve read last month?
Perfect Fifths (Jessica Darling #5) by Megan McCafferty.  Just AWFUL!!

PART 2. MIX-MATCH.

Aladdin – The poor boy who found a genie.
What is the latest book treasure/gem you found?
Tease by Amanda Maciel.  I wasn't expecting anything special and I became obsessed with reading it.

Alice in Wonderland – The girl who fell through a rabbit’s hole.
Which book made you really feel like you landed in another world?
Duh Harry Potter!!

East of the sun and west of the moon – where a girl embarks on a journey to save her love.
Who is one of your favorite kick-ass heroines?
I don't read a lot of books with heroines that literally kick-ass.  I mean Hermoine??  Lisbeth Salander from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo??

The Frog Prince – where an enchanted prince becomes human again.
What is a book you thought you would hate, but end up loving?
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer.  I thought it was going to be super supernatural and it definitely was more contemporary.

Hansel and Gretel – left alone in the woods and captured by a witch.
Which duo (sister/sister, brother/sister) is your favorite and why?
Trey/Rowan/Jules in Crash and Bang (The Vision series) by Lisa McMann.  I also liked the sibling relationships in My Life Next Door.

Little Red Riding Hood – almost eaten by a wolf dressed as her grandmother.
What book disappointed you after falling in love with the cover and blurb?
Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs.  Both covers are fantastic for different reasons and both books were just meh for me.

Rumpelstilskin – nobody knows his name.
Which book do you love that doesn’t get enough attention?
Hands down Crash and Burn by Michael Hassan!!!  It's one of my favorites and I swear I'm the only one who has read it.  I'm used to it though... a lot of books that I read don't become big "fad" books.  I would also add The Ghost and the Goth series by Stacey Kade and and Freshman Year and Other Unnatural Disasters by Meredith Zeitlin to that list.

So that was a fun Friday thing to do :)  What do you think about my picks... any of these books you loved/didn't love so much??

  3. This survey looks like so much fun. :) I might have to do it!

I loved Sam and Jase too. I think Jase is one of my favorite YA contemporary characters. He was always so sweet. I'm interested to see how well the second book holds up to My Life Next Door!

  4. I like the banner you made to go along with the survey. Thanks for the link back and for filling it out :D

I LOVE your first answer, go you! That's exactly the kind of respond I was hoping for. I can't wait to read Fangirl, almost everyone I know is raving about it. HARRY POTTER for the win.

  5. Haven't heard of Catalyst but looked up the cover and definitely agree haha. Tease got pretty bad ratings at first so it's nice to hear it's not all bad. Yay Fangirl :D

    1. Tease has not been the most popular book. I think it's because it's written from the bully's POV which feels a little unnatural. Usually bullying books are more sympathetic to the victim, but this one shows that there's 2 sides to every story and it felt unique to me.
