Top Ten Tuesday- Childhood/Teen Books I'd Like To Revisit

Top Ten Books From My Childhood/Teen Years I Would Love To Revisit

I'm an 80's/90's girl, and YA wasn't anything like it is now.  I basically grew up on Fear Street and other "thrillers".  Here are the books from back then that I'd love to revisit.

1.  Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling- I can't wait to be able to read these to my son!!!  He's 7 now, so it should be soon.
2.  The Face on the Milk Carton series by Caroline B. Cooney- This was an awesome series about a girl who sees herself on a milk carton (back in the day they used to put missing kids' pictures on milk cartons).  Recently there was a new Janie book released called Face to Face.  I read it and it really made me want to reread the whole series.
3.  Witch Saga by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor- This was an adorable series about girls named Lynn and Mouse who believe their neighbor, Mrs. Tuggle, is a witch.  This is one of those series where I started it in the middle, so I'd love to actually read the whole thing.  I wonder what age I could read this to my boy?
4.  Losing Christina by Caroline B. Cooney- Another series that I never read the first book.  I remember when I read it I was really confused, and I thought it was because the book was too hard for me, but it's probably because I didn't know it was a series.
5.  Nancy Drew by Carolyn Keene- LOVE Nancy Drew!!  My mom gave me her Nancy Drew book when I was little and I loved trying to figure out the mysteries.
6.  Matilda by Ronald Dahl- One of my all-time faves that I read at least 6 or 7 times in elementary school.
7.  The Fear Street Saga by R.L. Stine- I was OBSESSED with Fear Street as a tween.  I even had a map of the street hanging on my wall.  I remember when this prequel series came out that I really liked it.... but I don't remember it that well, so I'd like to learn about the Fear's origins all over again.
8.  Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh- Who didn't want to spy on people and write in a secret notebook after reading this??
9.  The Making Out Series by Katherine Applegate- I never read all the books in this series, but I remember loving the ones I did read.  There's this group of teens who live on an island (THINK JAR ISLAND, without the ghosts), and they go to school on the mainland, but stick together pretty tight.  There's a hot blind boy, and a girl who fake smokes cigarettes (Hello pre-Augustus Waters).... and that's all I really remember :(
10.  The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett- What little girl didn't love this book??


I can't wait to see which books everyone else picked!!  I love seeing which books made an impact on people.  And I bet I can guess which generation you're from from your lists :)
