So Obsessed.... (10)

It's time for another update on my obsessions!!  Between the Broke and Bookish Secret Santa and the On the Same Page Secret Sister Project, it's got me thinking about stuff I like, stuff my friends like, and my changing obsessions in general.  So I decided to start telling you guys what my obsessions are when I get them.

Rectify

While browsing through Netflix for a new addiction, I stumbled across a little-known show called Rectify.  Well it was addiction I was looking for and it was addiction I got.  Holy hell, this show is intense!!!  And beautiful, and just really really good.  Really good actors, incredible storylines.... It took over my life for a few days.  It airs on SundanceTV, which apparently is a station (news to me), but there are 2 full seasons on Netflix and you can stream the 3rd season directly from the SundanceTV site.  Also, I looked it up and it has been renewed for a 4th season in 2016.  YAY!!!  But it's probably a good thing that it's not airing right away, because seriously I need to have a life for a little while (outside of Daniel Holden, that is).  Have you seen this show, or am I the only one??

Football

Drafting has begun for my fantasy teams, and the season opener (staring my Pittsburgh Steelers) is right around the bend.  I'm so beyond ready for football Sunday's (and Monday and Thursday nights).  So beyond ready!!  I want to go hang out with my dad, eat some wings, have my mom make that bomb-ass veggie tray, and see some hard hitting games.  I'm pretty psycho about NFL football.  I watch ALL the games, watch ESPN and NFL Network constantly through the week for updates, and follow just about every aspect of it I can. There's nothing better than seeing all the teams I hate losing... and of course, having the Steelers winning (I also quite like the Denver Broncos.  The Seahawks, the Colts, the Texans, and the Giants are okay).  Here's to a ***7th*** Lombardi coming home this year!!  Do you love football??  If so, who are your teams?

90's Playlist

You know I love to reminisce about the 90's.  I was a wild teenager in those days, and I love listening to the music of my youth, what can I say?  Here's a Spotify playlist I've been working on:

What are your favorite songs from your youth??

Books

So last week, some girls from my book club and I decided to do a Sweet Valley High (Book 1) readalong/ drinking game.  It was so much fun!!  We drank every time they mentioned those gag inducing lavalieres, we drank every time Jessica mentioned "37", we drank every time the girls get to drive the Fiat, every time "sun-streaked" or ""blue-green eyes" or "perfect figures" are mentioned, and so on.  We also live-tweeted our reading and I blogged about it, so there's that if you want to read more.  Anyhow, it blew my mind how bad this book was.  I seriously do not remember the books being THAT ridiculous.  Did you ever cringe reading a book from your childhood when you realize it doesn't hold up?

I also finished up Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer and I had THINGS to say.  I can't wait for book club to let all that shit OUT!

Right now I'm reading Breakaway by Kat Spears.  It's starting out a little slow, but I'm optimistic it'll pick up soon.  It comes out September 15 and I've heard good things about it.

What are you reading now (besides Queen of Shadows)??  Anything you want to rec to me to read next?

What are your obsessions this week??  Any new TV series obsessions?  Any amazing books?

  1. That may be the best readalong I've ever heard about. I'd kind of love to reread those books someday... This is a good idea. Also, that is a great playlist!

  2. I have heard a lot of great things about Rectify! My housemate is currently watching it, and I have seen her up late in night binge watching that show. I shall have to give it a try sometime in the future. Oh the 90's- what an era! Haha.

  3. I used to love the Sweet Valley High books! I got all nostalgic one day and ordered a lot of them off of eBay. I was so excited to see them again, but then I started reading them. I couldn't believe I was addicted to something so corny when I was a teen. OMG, they were just so bad! A drinking game for them sounds like a lot of fun! Great idea!
