ARC August- I'm going to kill off some TBR!!

I stink at challenges, so I barely ever do them....  but my lovely friends over at Read.Sleep.Repeat are doing ARC August for the 4th time & I've never participated & I do have piles of ARCs that I really do need to challenge myself to read.... so here I am.

Lately I've sort of been in the mood to push myself to get some of my massive TBR handled... that is, I've been trying to read faster and MORE.  So this is my plan for ARC August.  Hopefully I'll be able to get through a large chunk of this and feel better about my TBR and feel like a better blogger (putting a dent in my older ARCs for sure would make me feel less guilty!!)

The Light Fantastic by Sarah Combs
  • Why? Because I want to read it before the release date of Sept. 13.  Plus, it sounds AWESOME!
What Light by Jay Asher
  • Why? Because I can't wait ANY longer to read more Jay Asher!
Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige
  • Why? Because I'm in the mood for more fairy tale retellings.
Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow
  • Why? Because I love books about the TOUGH stuff.

I Crawl Through it by A.S. King
  • Why? Because Holy Shit it's A.S. King and I STILL haven't read it???
Get Even (Don't Get Mad #1) by Gretchen McNeil
  • Why? Because I got this waayyy back at 2014 BEA and I like reading about Mean Girls.
Lair of Dreams (The Diviners #2) by Libba Bray
  • Why? Because OMG I wanted this SO bad at 2015 BEA, but just have not been in the mood for it for whatever reason??????
The Edge of Forever by Melissa E. Hurst
  • Why? Because I don't think I've ever read a YA book about Time Travel... & that's kind of sad!

Have you read any of these??  Any you'd like to recommend me reading first?

PS- There's still time to sign-up if you'd like to kill your ARC pile this August!  They're giving away a cool prize also, so there's that if you need further motivation :)  Here's to me reading fast and staying motivated!!

  1. I Crawl Through It was good (weird very weird but good). I am still struck by one poem in the book about a girl whose boyfriend rapes her (NOT a spoiler btw so no worries - happens before the book even opens). It was very haunting. I just read What Light and found it...soooo boring. I was disappointed but I'm curious for your thoughts Michelle. Looks like you have a good read ahead of you :)

  2. I participated in Read.Sleep.Repeat's ARC April this past Spring but never ARC August! I plan on signing up for it this week, and I also plan on reading Stealing Snow during it. Good luck!

  3. I have not read a single one of these books. although I think I have most of them. I really should sign up for this but I stink at challenges. I do have so many arcs to get through. I have been in a reading slump and no time for reading. so I am so far behind. I hope you get all these read!

  4. I don't even want to think about challenges. I fail on a good day, and so I am making no commitments right now. One day at a time for me.

  6. I have a couple of older ARCs lying around, I don't know why I didn't think to include them! Get Even is a book I wanted to read when it first came out, but for whatever reason, I complete forgot about it. It's so hard to keep up with the TBR when new books are being released all the time. Good luck with this challenge!

    1. UGH it's SO hard to keep up. Especially because I can't read 200 books a year like a lot of people do. I can't even do 100. I guess I'm just slower than the average reader :(

  7. You have What Light! Enjoy. I really want to read that book. I love Jay Asher's The Future of Us. I'll also be reading The Light Fantastic for ARC August.

  8. I'm in the same boat! I did ARCAugust last year and it definitely helped but I want to really try this year. I have a couple old arcs & e-arcs that I feel so guilty about! I'm going for about 8 books also, maybe Stealing Snow! I love fairy tale retellings. Good luck!!
