Top Ten Tuesday-- New to the TBR

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and The Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten List that bloggers join in on answering... and today (June 6th) I'm one of them :)

Today's Topic

Top Ten Middle Grade & YA Books That I've Recently Added To My TBR

  • I'm fairly new to MG, but since me and my son read them together, I've been getting INTO them.  A lot of my recent adds have been cool MGs I've been hearing about, but you know I've been shelving those YA books too!!  So, I'm sharing a little of both:

1.  Jelly Bean Summer by Joyce Magnin- Love the title-- messed up families + Jelly Bean.... is this a Riverdale spin off??
2.  Posted by John David Anderson- Cell phones are banned, so the kids use sticky notes to communicate.  So retro!!  I love it!
3.  A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting by Joe Ballarini- The Last Kids on Earth meet Goosebumps??  YES!
4.  Under Locker and Key by Allison K. Hymas- Love the title.
5.  The Peculiar Incident on Shady Street by Lindsay Currie- A haunted mystery.  I like it!

6.  Good and Gone by Megan Frazer Blakemore- Road trip + bad relationship realizations??  Yep, I'm in.
7.  Odd & True by Cat Winters- Historical Fiction/Sci-Fi/Fantasy??  I don't know what it is exactly, but it sounds cool.
8.  The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James- A. I'm a cover lover for this one.  B. It also sounds like a space setting that I could actually like.
9.  Finding Felicity by Stacey Kade- WHAT?!?!?!?  This is about a girl inspired by Felicity (TV show Felicity)'s life.  And yes it says an "old" show she discovers online-- as if it's some relic no one knows about.  I'll forgive the synopsis that little dig.
10.  The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand- I saw this book on someone's list last week and HOLY HELL HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT IT SOONER.  I must read this book, it sounds SO cool.

What books are new to your TBRs??

  4. Monster Hunting looks fun. Is it me or do MG books sometimes have the best covers? I've been in Barnes and Noble looking around and sometimes those MG covers just pop.

Good and Gone looks great, I'd like to read a good road trip book...

  10. The YA books look good! I don't have a middle grade reader in my house any longer, but it's always good to see recs for younger readers as well.

  14. Lots of interesting MG + YA titles - I read a lot of MG myself, but I bet it's fun discovering them with your child; I have a few years to go before we're in that stage of life.

  18. I had no idea that Cynthia Hand had another book coming out. I've made a promise to myself that I will read TWO Edelweiss/NetGalley books before I request/download another one, and it's taking ALL my willpower to hold myself back right now. I need to start reading FAST so I can go get it!! :-)

Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland, Michelle.
