Wake By Lisa McMann

This is not the kind of book I would normally read, but one of my book clubs was reading it, so I thought I'd give it a whirl... and I liked it!!  Thanks Book Club!

Janie isn't like everyone else.  She has a secret.  If she's near someone who is dreaming, she'll get sucked into their dreams.  She's doomed to go along for the ride without any power to stop it.  So she goes through life hiding it from everyone, hoping that she can avoid getting caught in these dreams as much as possible.  (And I don't blame her.  I mean some people dream about some freaky scary stuff!)
She befriends a guy named Cabel, who becomes the first person to sort of figure out her gift/curse, and she confides her secret in him.  The only problem with that is Cabel has secrets of his own, and they can't seem to get on the same page.

I really liked this book!  First off, it was a quick read once I got used to the writing style.  It read very: Janie thinks this.  Janie thinks that.  Janie goes home.  2nd I thought the concept was pretty awesome.  I liked the Janie character, and really all the characters in this book were well developed. 
The only things that held me back were:
1.  Janie never let Cabel explain anything.  Hello!!  He wants to explain why wouldn't you let him???
2.  Not to give away the ending but it kinda turns into a let's use your power to catch criminals type thing.  And I didn't really love that.  I liked just seeing Janie navigate through life with her gift.
