So Obsessed.... (4)

Between the Broke and Bookish Secret Santa and the On the Same Page Secret Sister Project, it's got me thinking about stuff I like, stuff my friends like, and my changing obsessions in general.  So I decided to start telling you guys what my obsessions are when I get them.

These are the things I've been obsessing over this week:

SnarkFactory

-So my new Etsy obsession is this shop called Snark Factory.  It's basically just jewelry with whimsical or naughty sayings on them.  I've had my eye on a few things for a little while, but this week I've really been pouring over it, trying to decide what to order.... seriously there are SO many to choose from.  And how have I lived all my 33 years without a necklace telling people I hate them???  Wait, is that rude?

Flowers

-It's been pretty cold here this week... like snow cold!!  Blah!!  But even so, my flowers are all still ready to come out and give me Spring.  I put together the ones that have bloomed so far :)

Before I Fall

My On the Same Page Secret Sister bought me an ebook copy of Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver and I've just now started reading it.  How did I go this many years without reading this book????  It is SUCH a me book!!  I love Sam, even though maybe she's not supposed to be likable.  I like the Groundhog's Day feel of it.  I love Lauren Oliver's writing!!  Some people say her writing style is something they struggle with, but I don't see it.  There's nothing that different about it, except that it's really well done.  I'm definitely a new fan!!!

Pittsburgh Sports

-So before yesterday, The Pittsburgh Penguins were firmly in the first round of the hockey playoffs with a decent chance (or at least a slim chance?) of winning the series against the NY Rangers.  Now, well that's obv. not going to happen.  But it doesn't make me any less obsessed to watch what remains.  I'm also super excited for the NFL Draft (the Steelers have GOT to draft a DB or Safety or I quit), and baseball season has gotten off to an okay start.  Pittsburghers are nothing if not rabid sports fans.  You really can't go ANYWHERE at any time of the year without seeing a large number of people wearing Steelers/Pirates/Pens gear.  Like seriously, you could go to the opera and I guarantee some Yinzer will have on a "Stillers" hat.

The Islanders

-I am SO excited because Harper Teen is republishing the Making Out series.  If you don't know, it's a series of books that came out in the 90's written by Katherine Applegate & Michael Grant.  It's about this group of kids who grow up on an island off the coast of New England... very Burn for Burn!!  Except no supernatural elements.  Anyhow, I LOVED this series back in the day, and I love 90's nostalgia, so this is basically win-win for me.  I hope a new generation picks these books up and falls in love with the characters.  They're calling it The Islanders now... hmm okay.

Do you have any cool obsessions this week??

    1. I didn't even know it was called the "Making Out" series when I read them back in the day. When I found that out, I was like ???????? But then I got used to it, and the Islanders sounds tropically or something. Anyway the books are probably terrible. I read them when I was like 13, so who knows what kind of taste I had LOL.

    1. Before I Fall was such a surprise for me! I was not thinking I was going to love it as much as I do. And I feel really dumb that it's taken me this long to get to it. I also heard that the Making Out series was kind of just a thing they did to make money... I after book 8 or 9, the rest of the series was ghostwritten. But my 13 year old self loved them. There's a character in it that does the whole Augustus Waters cigarette thing way before John Green ever came along. (although she probably wasn't doing it for a metaphor or anything, I think she had asthma or something where she couldn't ACTUALLY smoke her Lucky Strikes).
