Top Ten Tuesday- Things Books Made Me Want To Do

Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool original feature/weekly meme created over at The Broke and The Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten List that bloggers join in on answering... and today (July 26) I'm one of them :)

Top Ten Things Books Have Made Me Want To Do After Reading Them

1.  ROADTRIP

• Book- The Haters by Jesse Andrews
• I've always wanted to take an epic road trip with friends.  In college I had a Road Trip Across Pennsylvania all planned out.  I was going to get some friends and we were going to start at Lake Erie and visit all the things there are to see in our home state, camping along the way.  Alas, we never had time/money to do it, but I still dream that a memorable road trip is in my future.

2.  Go to Kennywood

• Book- Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver
• I happen to have grown up near a really old indie amusement park.  It's called Kennywood and it was founded in 1898.  It was purchased by a corporation a few years ago, but the traditional feel remains.  It's a national historic landmark and Vanishing Girls' Fanland had me feeling nostalgic for the beloved park from my childhood.

3.  Visit the flooded town near me and make up stories about it

• Book- Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma
• Livermore, PA is a town that was abandoned as a part of a flood control project in the 1950's to prevent downtown Pittsburgh from floods.  What's left of the town now is underwater and there are bike trails and other outdoorsy stuff to do in that area.  I often wondered if there were any foundations still left under the water when I visited the area, but never as much as when I read Imaginary Girls.  I couldn't help but compare Olive and Livermore and want to go there and let my imagination wander.

4.  Run around the Virginia countryside and look for ley lines

• Book- The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
• My aunt lives in Louden County in Virginia and I've spent a lot of time there.  Also, there's pretty much not a historical area in VA that I haven't visited.  I've been all over that great state.  So when I read The Raven Boys, the setting of course made me picture the Virginia I'm most familiar with and picture myself wandering around with the ley line finder :) Of course, now I just need to find my own awesome crew to go adventuring with!!

5.  Go to boarding school and meet immature/hilarious/hot rugby boys

• Book- Winger by Andrew Smith
• Because YES to boarding school!!!  And YES to Rugby boys (at least SOME of the ones in this book).

6.  Go to Spain

• Book- Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
• For some reason, I've never really had an urge to go to Spain.  No reason for that really except that the Eiffel Tower of Paris and Big Ben and the London Eye seem to always get shown as "THE" places to visit in Europe.  But when Stephanie Perkins described Barcelona to me, I knew that it would go on my list of places I want to go someday.

7.  ReRead the Making Out series.... and also live on an island

• Book- Burn for Burn by Jenny Han & Siobhan Vivian
• So The Making Out series (which is now called The Islanders) is a series that was set in the 90's about some teens who lived on a small island, but went to school on the mainland-- taking a ferry back and forth everyday.  This group of teens formed a clique, which I guess is why the book series was renamed The Islanders.  Besides the leaving the island for school, isn't Burn for Burn totally like that??  A clique of kids that grew up isolated on an island??  Well, after reading that, it totally had me wanting to return to the series that I loved as pre-teen!

8.  Bring back IM

• Book- ttyl by Lauren Myracle
• Holy crap this series made me want to tell everyone to get back on IM.  My screenname is Topanga133 if you're interested :)

9.  Wear fancy dresses like a lady of quality

• Book- Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger
• I don't know how you could read this series and NOT want to try on corsets and flowy gowns and gloves and parasols. 

10.  Redo my wardrobe

• Book- To All the Boys I Loved Before by Jenny Han
• Damn it Lara Jean!  Why must your fashion be so adorably cute and girly.  And all the Tumblr aesthetics aren't helping!

11.  Write in a journal again

• Book- Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty
• So TECHNICALLY she's writing to Hope, but Jessica's word vomit basically has the feel of journal writing.  I used to write in one a lot, but since I had a baby, started blogging, and my massive TBR sprouted up... I kind of gave it up :(
