Top Ten Books That Span A School Year
- These are my fave book that take place over a whole school year. It's always fun to go through the beginning of school with a character & then see their issues play out over the entire year.
1. Confessions of a High School Disaster (Chloe Snow Diaries #1) by Emma Chastain- This was adorableness on crack. I could not get enough of Chloe Snow's Freshman year.
2. Folded Notes from High School by Matthew Boren- This documents the senior and freshman years of 2 drama kids in the 90's. It's an interesting year.
3. Winger (#1) by Andrew Smith- Want to spend a school year at Pine Mountain Academy with the most hilarious boy hijinks going on???
4. Those Girls by Lauren Saft- It's a very dysfunctional year for these 3 girls-- and maybe I'm the only one who loved reading about it, but MAN did I ever love reading about it.
5. Freshman Year & Other Unnatural Disasters by Meredith Zeitlin- If you haven't read this book (and I know it's sort of older at this point), you should SO read this as the school year starts. It is such a cute/sweet/funny book about Kelsey's Freshman year!
6. The Gatekeepers by Jen Lancaster- This is a disturbing look at a year at a school that goes too far with the perfection expectations.
7. Confessions of an Angry Girl (#1) by Louise Rozett- Rose is insufferable at times, but she's not going to apologize about it. I loved following her through her high school journey & it all starts here w/ Freshman year.
8. Sleeping Freshman Never Lie by David Lubar- This book was fun and unexpectedly emotional. It's a high school survival guide from a Freshman boy to his unborn sibling .
9. Sloppy Firsts (Jessica Darling #1) by Megan McCafferty- LOVED following Jessica Darling through her Junior year.
10. Anna and the French Kiss (#1) by Stephanie Perkins- Spend a year at the School of America in Paris hanging out with Etienne St. Clair.

Ooh this is a good way to do the topic! Those Girls and The gatekeepers both look like books I need to check out. What is it with school and drama that makes for such good reading??!?

Awww!! Anna and the French Kiss. Definitely a cute novel and still one of my favorites - because it's CUUUTE! Perhaps it could be Netflix's next adaptation. :D

Winger will always make me think of school, and I have nothing but love for RD. I totally fell in love with Chloe this summer and cannot wait for her Jr year book. I always feel like the black sheep, because Anna is NOT my favorite of the series. Isla is, and I think part of that is because all three couples are there, and that ending was pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteFolded notes from high school sounds good. I haven't read too many high school books in a while. People who are high school age... but for some reason they're not in school, LOL. Although I did read When Elephants Fly the other day.
