So Obsessed With... (2)

Between the Broke and Bookish Secret Santa and the On the Same Page Secret Sister Project, it's got me thinking about stuff I like, stuff my friends like, and my changing obsessions in general.  So I decided to start telling you guys what my obsessions are when I get them.

These are the things I've been obsessing over this week:

Blog Design

If you haven't noticed (or you haven't visited me before), I got a new blog design this week!  I am completely in love and obsessed with it.  Thank you so much to Rebekah Louise Designs for the lovely sophisticated look for my blog.  I really liked my other design, but just felt like it was time for a change.  Of course I found my designer on Etsy, which has been one of my obsessions for the past couple months :)

My Blogoversary

So it's officially been 3 years since I started blogging.  My official first post was this gem, published March 2, 2012.  My my how things have changed since then!!  I was basically just looking for my own venue to publish my Goodreads reviews... and now 3 years later it's about so much more.  I'm happy for all the friends I've made, all the people who have stopped by to visit me, and to the book publishing industry for including little bloggers like myself in their promotion plans.

-I'll probably have a giveaway at some point this month to celebrate for real :)

Gone Girl

GAHHHHH Gone Girl.  Get. Out. Of. My. Head.

Last week I started reading the book and got completely engulfed in the story.  I had to know what happened to the missing wife.  I didn't much like her (too perfect and all that), and I didn't much like him (liar, lack of remorse), but I HAD TO KNOW.  Then there were a series of reveals that just blew my freaking mind.  Like holy woah.  Someone (and I can't remember for the life of me who) said the book should be renamed "Bitches Be Crazy"... and I can't help but agree.  I also immediately went out and rented the movie, which I thought was okay, but not near as gripping as the book (although I'm not complaining about the random full frontal shot of Ben Affleck's well-endowed junk).  I definitely wasn't thinking "wow, this is an Academy Award performance".  I thought it was nicely done, but a little slow at weird parts and rushed at others.

But anyway, I'm in a complete book-hangover state.  I haven't been able to get into a new book since I finished it.  And that was 7 days ago!!  I tried starting 3 other books and none of them have took.  I hate when I read a book that takes over my life because the aftermath is that reading something else just won't cut it.

Dance Moms

As some of you may know I have a minor Dance Moms addiction.  I grew up in Penn Hills (the town where the studio is located), and danced for Abby for many years.  To see her on TV is really surreal.

When I first heard she was getting a show, I didn't think for one minute she would be allowed to be her true self on there.  I mean, once I grew up and looked back on my dance days, I was disturbed by the things that went on... things that at the time seemed par for the course.  So I eagerly watched that first show thinking she would be WAY watered down.  Well she's not.  What you see on that TV is how she is.  Her studio has always been one of favoritism and below-the-belt comments.  The only part that is fake is all the mom drama.  That doesn't happen.

Anyhow, this week I'm watching and I'm like WHY do I watch this crap??  Is it entertainment to watch this psychological child abuse??  Is it really worth it for their kids to go through this to be on TV?  And what the hell is wrong with Lifetime?  Although I truly do enjoy when Abby has a melt-down and runs to her car to eat candy and Burger King.  Can we have a whole show devoted to that?

But I really do need to stop watching because it makes me sick to know that she's getting rich treating little girls like shit.

Once Upon a Time

I'm back to watching the 3rd season of Once Upon a Time on Netflix.  I started watching it when it was first released, but got distracted by other shows and am just now getting back to it.  Hello Hook, my beautiful fairy tale boyfriend, I've missed you.

I also really like the new characters that they've brought in... like Ariel, Peter Pan (and his whole story-line), and the Wicked Witch.

My OTSPSecretSister Present

Thank you so much, whoever you are!!  And like I told the girls who run it, no worries about the Feb. package.  Stuff happens, you don't need to make it up to me or anything like that.  My faith in the mail system has been tested many times over the years :(

Those are my obsessions this week.  What are you obsessing over?

  3. Ooooh I love your new blog design! The polka dots are adorable and work so well.

And happy blogoversary! 3 years is incredible!

I need to read Gone Girl! I've only seen the movie which was for a friend's birthday. I was not happy about seeing it before I read the book but I didn't want to ruin her birthday so I went along and actually quite enjoyed myself! I still hate that I didn't get the experience of seeing unravel through the pages but oh well.

And I have totally fallen off the OUAT wagon. I used to watch obsessively through season 1 and 2 but then when season 3 started I just watched less and less. I barely watched the Elsa season and am not planning on watching this coming season either. I feel like they're just introducing new villains to stir up some trouble. I don't know if it's still like that but that's what I got tired of after two seasons. But I do love Hook :)

    1. I'm not looking forward to the Elsa season. I am SO SICK of Frozen.

The book version of Gone Girl was so much more thrilling than the movie. I enjoyed the movie... but that book!! Total mindfuck.

      Thanks for stopping by!!
